JOB SUMMARY
The QA Analyst is responsible for ensuring the quality, reliability, and performance of software applications by planning, designing, and executing comprehensive test strategies throughout the software development lifecycle. This role collaborates closely with developers, product managers, and business stakeholders to identify defects early, validate system functionality, and ensure that delivered solutions meet business and user expectations.
The QA Analyst supports enterprise applications in fast-paced environments, contributes to continuous improvement initiatives, and plays a key role in delivering stable, high-quality software releases.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE ROLE
Test Planning & Execution
Design, document, and execute test plans, test cases, and test scenarios based on functional and technical requirements. Perform functional, regression, integration, system, and user acceptance testing (UAT).
Defect Management
Identify, document, prioritize, and track defects using defect-tracking tools. Collaborate with development teams to verify fixes and ensure timely resolution.
Quality Analysis & Validation
Validate application functionality, usability, performance, data accuracy, and security. Ensure compliance with defined quality standards and business requirements.
Process Improvement
Continuously evaluate QA processes and testing methodologies. Recommend improvements to enhance testing efficiency, coverage, and overall software quality.
Collaboration
Work closely with cross-functional teams including developers, product owners, and business analysts. Participate in Agile ceremonies such as sprint planning, stand-ups, and retrospectives.
Documentation & Reporting
Maintain detailed testing documentation including test plans, test cases, execution results, defect logs, and quality reports. Communicate testing status, risks, and quality metrics to stakeholders.
Systems Thinking
Analyze applications end-to-end, understanding dependencies and integration points. Proactively identify risks and areas of improvement across systems.
Professionalism
Demonstrate accountability, attention to detail, and commitment to quality. Engage in continuous learning to stay updated on QA tools, technologies, and industry best practices.
KEY SUCCESS FACTORS
Strong understanding of software testing principles, methodologies, and SDLC/STLC
Experience in manual testing with exposure to automation concepts
Proficiency in defect tracking and test management tools (e.g., JIRA, TestRail, Zephyr)
Experience testing web-based and enterprise applications
Knowledge of API testing and database validation
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills
Excellent verbal and written communication abilities
Ability to work effectively in Agile and fast-paced environments
General computer skills including Microsoft Office, documentation tools, and email
TECHNICAL SKILLS (Preferred)
Manual, Functional, and Regression Testing
API Testing (Postman or similar tools)
SQL for data validation
Agile / Scrum methodology
Test Automation exposure (Selenium, Cypress, Playwright – preferred)
CI/CD pipeline awareness
Defect lifecycle management
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field
2+ years of experience in software quality assurance or testing roles
