Brief about the role:
We are seeking an experienced IT Desktop Engineer to oversee all technology operations at our Bengaluru facility. This role is responsible for managing the day-to-day IT activities on-site, including desktop support (Windows & Mac), infrastructure, networking, and systems administration. The IT Desktop Engineer will serve as both a hands-on technical resource and a leader, ensuring reliable IT services while aligning with corporate IT strategy.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in information technology, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- 5+ years of IT experience, with exposure to both desktop support and infrastructure management.
- Strong technical knowledge of Windows and Mac OS, Microsoft 365, Okta, networking, and hardware troubleshooting.
- Hands-on networking experience.
- Proven ability to balance hands-on IT support with local leadership.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to support users at all levels of the organization.
- Strong understanding of IT security best practices.
- Relevant certifications (e.g., CompTIA A+/Network+, Microsoft, Cisco, ITIL) are a plus.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage daily IT operations for the Bangalore site, including desktop support, infrastructure, networking, servers, endpoints, and applications.
- Provide hands-on IT support for end users, including hardware, software, and peripheral troubleshooting, ensuring timely resolution of incidents and service requests.
- Act as the primary escalation point for technical issues at the site.
- Lead and support a local IT team (where applicable), providing guidance, training, and performance management.
- Implement and enforce IT policies, procedures, and security protocols to align with corporate standards.
- Oversee system upgrades, patches, and hardware/software deployments.
- Collaborate with Global Infrastructure and Operations teams to plan and execute corporate initiatives at the site level.
- Maintain IT asset inventory, manage procurement, and oversee lifecycle management for desktops, laptops, and related equipment.
- Partner with business leaders to understand technology needs and deliver effective IT solutions.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory, security, and data protection requirements.
- Monitor IT performance metrics and provide reporting to senior IT leadership.
- Manage local vendor relationships and service contracts.
