We are seeking a highly motivated Senior Merchandiser to collaborate closely with the Founder & Creative Director in transforming creative concepts into commercially successful products.
This pivotal early-stage position demands an individual capable of managing execution from start to finish, working independently, and partnering effectively with a small founding team as well as external collaborators.
Requirements
Key Responsibilities
1. Product Development & Execution
Oversee the entire product lifecycle from initial concept through to final production
Convert design briefs into practical and actionable development strategies
Manage sampling, multiple iterations, fittings, and secure final approvals
2. Production & Critical Path Management
Establish and maintain a strong critical path from development to delivery
Ensure deadlines are consistently met during sampling, production, and shipment phases
Proactively identify and address any potential obstacles
3. Vendor Sourcing & Management
Source, onboard, and manage small-batch premium womenswear manufacturers
Develop a dependable vendor network that meets quality and design expectations
Cultivate and sustain strong partnerships with tailors, pattern makers, and production teams
4. Costing & Commercial Viability
Prepare precise costing sheets and ensure alignment with desired profit margins
Balance creative design goals with commercial practicality
Negotiate effectively with vendors to minimize costs without sacrificing quality
5. Quality Control
Maintain high standards in garment fit, finish, and construction
Monitor and enforce quality during both sampling and full production stages
Implement rigorous quality checks to ensure brand consistency
6. Cross-functional Coordination
Collaborate closely with design, production teams, and external freelancers
Serve as the primary coordinator among all stakeholders involved
Required Qualifications
Minimum of 4 years' experience in women's ready-to-wear development or merchandising
Strong background in premium or luxury womenswear is preferred
Demonstrated capability to independently manage end-to-end product development
Extensive knowledge of fabric sourcing, garment construction, and fit processes
A solid network of vendors including factories, tailors, and sampling units is advantageous
Highly organized with a strong sense of ownership and effective problem-solving skills
Ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced startup environment
