Job Title: Manager, Software Engineering
Locations: Bangalore, India
Reports to: Director of Engineering, Document Automation

A quick snapshot...

Conga is looking to hire a Manager, Software Engineering to lead a team in India responsible for building and evolving our Document Automation platform, including document generation, data merging, and digital signature capabilities.

This team develops the core services that:

  • Merge structured customer data with document templates
  • Generate compliant, highquality documents at scale
  • Support secure digital signing and postgeneration document workflows

As an Engineering Manager, you will lead engineers to building backend services, APIs, UI's, ecosystem managed components, and supporting infrastructure that power document composition, data binding, signing workflows, and lifecycle management of generated documents. You will work closely with Product, Architecture, QA, SRE, and peer Engineering Managers across India and the Americas.

Why it's a big deal...

Document generation and digital signing are missioncritical, revenuegenerating capabilities used by thousands of enterprise customers. This role directly impacts product scalability, security, compliance, customer trust, and operational reliability.

Are you the person we're looking for?

Related Experience. You must have more than 8 years of experience in software engineering, including 3+ years in managing engineering teams. You've worked through the full SDLC in enterprise SaaS environments and have experience building and running backend platforms or core services that other teams or customers rely on.

Engineering. You know how to work with other Document Automation leaders in the execution of our Document Automation roadmap, owning the systems that bring customer data and document templates together at scale.

Delivery. You are good at ensuring the systems meet enterprise expectations for performance, reliability, auditability, and security. You'll partner closely with Product Management to turn customer needs and compliance requirements into well-defined, executable engineering work. Just as importantly, you'll help balance nearterm feature delivery with longterm platform health by actively managing technical debt and system stability.

People Leadership. You lead, mentor, and grow a team of software engineers based in India, creating an environment where people feel ownership over their work and take pride in quality. This includes hiring and onboarding new engineers, coaching team members at different stages of their careers, and providing clear, thoughtful performance feedback.

You'll play a key role in building a strong local engineering culture-one rooted in accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement-while ensuring your team is well connected to global peers and leadership.

Technical Background. You bring solid technical depth across modern software systems, including experience with singlepage applications, microservice architectures, and thirdparty integrations. You have a strong grasp of objectoriented design, concurrency, performance, and scalability, and you understand what it takes to build secure, auditable systems handling customercritical data.

Technical Leadership. While this is not an individual contributor role, you stay close to the technical details. You provide architectural guidance and technical oversight, review designs to ensure they scale reliably and securely, and partner with architects and senior engineers to evolve our shared document automation capabilities.

Best Engineering Practices. You champion strong engineering practices across your teams-from design reviews and testing strategies to CI/CD pipelines and production readiness-helping ensure what we ship is robust and supportable.

Cloud & DevOps. You are familiar with modern delivery pipelines and operational practices, including CI/CD, InfrastructureasCode concepts, and production monitoring. You understand the realities of operating software in production and can help teams respond effectively when things don't go as planned.

Education. A bachelor's degree in engineering or equivalent. Master's degree will be preferred.

Here's what will give you an edge...

Collaboration. You are an expert in closely working with Product, QA, SRE, and peer Engineering Managers across regions, helping align priorities and surface risks early.

Effective Communicator. You are excellent in communicating delivery status, dependencies, and tradeoffs clearly and proactively to both technical and nontechnical stakeholders.

Good to have. It is good if you have experience with document automation, eSignature, or workflow platforms and knowledge of security, compliance, or audit requirements related to signed documents.
