As a team member you will be part of a team which has full responsibility for development & testing aspects of the application. You will have the drive to focus on your work, help support you team to achieve continuous improvement, work in line to have best testing approach and participate in initiatives to improve quality, performance, and maintainability with a strong focus on customer satisfaction and usability. You will have the opportunity to work with an energetic team, using agile development methodologies.
Key Role Accountabilities
Test Artifacts - Create, Update, Execute:
- Review and analyze requirements, create, and execute test cases through manually as well as automated and analyze the results.
- Report bugs and errors to development teams and Conduct post release and post implementation testing
- Work closely with Software Developers and other QA engineers to deliver the highest quality products in a timely and cost-effective manner.
- Generating reports such as defect analysis report, feature status reports
- Follow the software development life cycle methodology through the life of the project with specific focus on software quality
- Design and execute test cases for core Electrical & Power Systems simulation features including generation dispatch, unit commitment, load flow, and market clearing algorithms within PLEXOS and related products
- Validate numerical outputs from power system simulations against expected results including energy balances, transmission constraints, nodal pricing, and reserve margins; raise defects with precise domain context
- Maintain and update test suites covering renewable energy integration scenarios (wind, solar, hydro, battery storage), ensuring edge cases such as curtailment, ramp constraints, and intermittency are thoroughly tested.
High Quality Contribution:
- Design, develop, review, re-factor, and maintain automation framework, test cases and scripts with quality and performance in mind.
- Identify and manage risks for schedule and quality with the team.
- Add to engineering team's culture of high code & product quality
- Develop and maintain domain-specific regression test libraries for power market simulations covering electricity pricing models, hydrothermal coordination, and transmission network constraints (DC load flow, AC optimal power flow)
- Proactively identify data quality risks in simulation input datasets (timeseries, topology, generator parameters) and flag issues that could lead to incorrect modelling outcomes before product release.
Global Team Interaction and Collaboration:
- Willingness to assist and support others as required and get on with team members.
- Seek support from local and global QA & developer teams when required.
- Recommend solutions and options to global team when required.
- Collaborate with Energy & Power domain consultants, product managers, and customer-facing teams to translate utility-grade regulatory and grid compliance requirements (NERC, IEC 61968/61970, CIM standards) into actionable test scenarios
- Participate in cross-functional reviews with PLEXOS modelling and simulation engine teams to ensure test coverage aligns with new solver capabilities, stochastic modelling features, and emerging energy market rule changes.
