Responsibilities
- Leading the design and evolution of large-scale, distributed systems and platform architectures to support long-term scalability, reliability, and extensibility across organizational boundaries.
- Leading the strategic adoption and application of AI-assisted development practices and AI-enabled system capabilities, identifying where AI creates meaningful organizational leverage and connecting those capabilities directly to engineering effectiveness, product innovation, and measurable business outcomes.
- Defining and guiding long-term technical strategy and architecture across organizational boundaries, aligning engineering direction with business objectives and product goals.
- Identifying high-impact technical opportunities and defining the problems that should be prioritized to maximize engineering and business outcomes.
- Partnering with engineering, product, and business leadership to shape technical priorities and guide roadmap decisions at the organizational level.
- Leading cross-team initiatives that span multiple systems or domains, ensuring successful delivery and long-term sustainability.
- Navigating highly ambiguous problem spaces, defining technical approaches, and driving clarity, alignment, and execution across teams.
- Influencing technical direction across teams by establishing alignment on architecture, design patterns, and engineering best practices.
- Identifying, communicating, and mitigating systemic technical risks across systems and organizational boundaries.
- Ensuring system health, reliability, and scalability by advancing observability, performance optimization, and operational maturity across systems.
- Defining the organizational strategy for reducing technical debt and modernizing existing systems, including establishing re-platforming roadmaps and driving adoption across teams and domains.
- Driving the development and adoption of platform capabilities, shared services, and tooling to improve developer productivity and system consistency.
- Acting as a force multiplier by mentoring senior and staff engineers and enabling teams to operate more effectively and independently.
- Advocating for continuous improvement by identifying systemic gaps and driving changes to architecture, processes, and engineering practices.
- Promoting a culture of engineering excellence by setting high standards for system design, code quality, and operational practices.
- Contributing to technical due diligence and evaluation of strategic initiatives and partnerships.
Requirements
- S. in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 10+ years of professional software engineering experience, with a demonstrated track record of defining and driving technical strategy across multiple teams or organizational domains.
- Strong computer science fundamentals, including data structures, algorithms, and industry-standard design patterns and practices.
- Proven experience building and maintaining third-party integration platforms that synchronize data across multiple external systems (accounting platforms, payment gateways, CRM systems).
- Understanding of payment processing workflows including Payment gateway integration, payment method lifecycle management.
- Familiarity with accounting system concepts like Invoice-to-cash workflow, chart of accounts, terms, tax calculations and compliance.
- Deep experience designing, building, and evolving large-scale, distributed systems and platform architectures at organizational scale.
- Strong hands-on experience designing, deploying, and operating production systems on public cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure), including practical knowledge of cloud-native services across compute, storage, networking, and managed data with a solid understanding of cloud architecture patterns, cost optimization, and security best practices.
- Strong understanding of system design trade-offs across scalability, reliability, performance, and cost, with the ability to define and communicate architectural direction at an organizational level.
- Proven ability to operate in highly ambiguous environments, define clear technical direction, and drive execution across teams and organizational boundaries without direct authority.
- Experience influencing and aligning senior engineers, staff engineers, and leadership across teams and domains.
- Experience identifying and mitigating systemic technical risks across systems, teams, and organizational boundaries.
- Deep experience with observability practices, including structured logging, metrics collection, distributed tracing, and alerting, with the ability to drive improvements in operational maturity across the organization.
- A forward-looking approach to AI-assisted development: able to define organizational strategy for AI adoption, evaluate where AI creates meaningful leverage at scale, and connect those capabilities directly to product quality, delivery speed, and business outcomes.
- Demonstrated ability to improve engineering productivity through platform, tooling, or process improvements at organizational scale.

Technology & Tools
- Experience with full stack and API development across both frontend and backend layers.
- Proficiency in one or more of the following programming languages: Rust, C#, and JavaScript.
- Proficient with modern authentication and authorization mechanisms (e.g., OAuth 2.0, OIDC, SAML).
- Experience maintaining and operating large-scale production systems and services, including driving systemic improvements to incident response, post-mortem processes, and long-term reliability.
- Extensive experience with distributed and microservices-based architectures.
- Experience with containerization and container orchestration (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
- Deep experience with cloud-native infrastructure patterns, including serverless architectures, managed Kubernetes services, infrastructure-as-code tooling (e.g., Terraform, Pulumi, or Bicep), and cost-aware resource design at organizational scale.
- Experience leading and evolving the implementation of modern security patterns and practices, including secure coding standards, threat modeling, vulnerability remediation, and security architecture across systems.
- Broad and deep knowledge of architectural styles and design patterns.
- Experience with CI/CD systems and modern software delivery practices, including automated testing gates, progressive deployment strategies, and platform-level delivery improvements.
- Deep familiarity with relational and non-relational data stores and the architectural considerations that inform design decisions at platform scale.
- Deep experience with observability, monitoring, and reliability engineering practices, with a track record of driving operational excellence across systems and teams.
