About the role
You will work on the backend systems and mobile surfaces that power ShelfWatch's capture experience used by field reps across 50+ countries. The app handles AR-guided shelf scanning, panoramic stitching and offline-first capture. You will work across Python services and the mobile integration layer.
What you will do
• Work on Python backend services that power mobile capture, sync and image upload pipelines.
• Contribute to our React Native app across capture flows, offline queues, auth and result rendering.
• Help design APIs that handle large image payloads, intermittent connectivity and partial sync recovery.
• Collaborate with AR and ML teams to integrate capabilities into mobile workflows.
• Refactor legacy mobile code using Claude Code and Cursor as a daily driver.
• Debug across the full stack, from mobile clients to backend services in production.

What we are looking for
• 2+ years building production backends in Python (FastAPI, Django or Flask).
• Strong instincts for API design when bandwidth is unreliable and payloads are heavy.
• Comfortable navigating legacy codebases and using AI tools to refactor and ship in unfamiliar territory.
• Daily user of Claude, Cursor or similar AI coding tools with a clear point of view on what works.
• Bias for shipping and a habit of measuring what you ship.
Preferred
• React Native experience with real users, ideally with offline-first patterns.
• Image upload pipelines, chunked uploads or resumable transfers.
• Mobile observability and crash analytics.
