The key roles and responsibilities of a Major Incident Manager:

Identification and Classification :

  • Quickly identify and validate incidents as major incidents based on their impact and urgency.
  • Ensure that all relevant information is gathered and documented accurately.

Coordination and Communication :

  • Commanding, Controlling and Confident
  • Act as the central point of contact during a major incident.
  • Coordinate with various technical teams, stakeholders, and third-party vendors to ensure a swift resolution.
  • Provide regular updates to senior management and affected users about the status of the incident.
  • Must obtain strong communication and writing skill, familiar with Major Incident Management Notification
  • Should be knowing about Sequence of Event / White Board updates

Incident Resolution :

  • Lead the incident resolution process, ensuring that all necessary resources are mobilized.
  • Facilitate technical troubleshooting and problem-solving efforts.
  • Implement workarounds and temporary fixes to minimize business disruption.

Post-Incident Review :

  • Conduct a thorough post-incident review to identify the root cause and prevent recurrence.
  • Document lessons learned and recommended improvements to incident management processes.

Stakeholder Management :

  • Maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including business leaders, IT teams, and external partners.
  • Ensure that stakeholder expectations are managed effectively throughout the incident lifecycle.
