Job Title: Subject Matter Expert - Microsoft Purview Data Governance

Location: India preferred)

Job Summary:

We are seeking experienced and detail-oriented Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to lead the implementation of sensitive data discovery and labeling initiatives across SharePoint Online and OneDrive environments. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in Microsoft Purview and a strong understanding of data governance, compliance, and information protection frameworks.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, configure, and execute sensitive data discovery scans using Microsoft Purview.
• Develop and apply sensitivity labels and retention labels to files stored in SharePoint Online and OneDrive.
• Collaborate with compliance, security, and IT teams to define data classification policies and labeling taxonomy .
• Monitor and fine-tune scanning rules and policies to ensure accurate detection of sensitive information (e.g., PII, PHI, financial data).
• Generate reports and dashboards to track labeling coverage, policy effectiveness, and compliance posture.
• Provide training and documentation to stakeholders on labeling practices and Purview capabilities.
• Stay current with Microsoft 365 compliance features and recommend improvements to data governance strategies.

Required Qualifications:

• Proven experience with Microsoft Purview (formerly Microsoft Information Protection & Compliance).
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft 365 compliance center , sensitivity labels , data loss prevention (DLP) , and retention policies .
• Hands-on experience with SharePoint Online and OneDrive for Business administration.
• Familiarity with Regulatory Compliance Standards (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA, ISO 27001).
• Ability to interpret and implement data classification frameworks.
• Excellent communication and documentation skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Microsoft certifications such as SC-400 , MS-500 , or SC-900 .
• Experience with PowerShell scripting for automation and reporting.
