Oracle DBA

Key Responsibilities:

1. Database Installation & Configuration:

   • Install, configure, and maintain Oracle databases (versions 11g, 12c, and 19c or higher) on various operating systems (Linux, Windows, AIX).

   • Set up Oracle database instances, listeners, and client configurations in multi-platform environments.

   • Ensure that Oracle database environments are configured to the highest standards, with proper backup and recovery strategies.

2. Performance Tuning & Optimization:

   • Monitor and optimize database performance, ensuring the efficient use of resources and reducing response times.

   • Perform database tuning (SQL query optimization, indexing, and storage management) to ensure high performance and low latency.

   • Proactively analyze, diagnose, and troubleshoot database performance issues and implement performance enhancements.

3. Backup & Recovery:

   • Design, implement, and manage robust backup and disaster recovery (DR) strategies using Oracle RMAN (Recovery Manager) and Data Guard.

   • Ensure regular database backups are taken and tested for recovery accuracy.

   • Perform database recovery and point-in-time recovery as needed.

4. Database Security & Compliance:

   • Implement and enforce security measures, including data encryption, auditing, and user access controls (e.g., roles and privileges).

   • Regularly review and update database security policies to ensure compliance with organizational standards and industry regulations.

   • Conduct security audits and assessments to ensure database security integrity and maintain compliance with internal and external security standards.

5. Database Upgrades & Patching:

   • Plan and execute database upgrades, migrations, and patching to ensure Oracle databases are running on supported versions.

   • Coordinate and manage database patching cycles with minimal downtime and risk.

   • Apply quarterly patching, security patches, and bug fixes as required by Oracle and internal standards.
