Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

  • System Administration:

    • Install, configure, and maintain Red Hat Linux (RHEL) operating systems on physical and virtual environments.

    • Perform regular system updates, patching, and upgrades to ensure all systems are secure and up-to-date.

    • Monitor system performance, availability, and capacity, and take proactive measures to address potential issues.

  • Automation and Scripting:

    • Write and maintain automation scripts using Shell, Python, Ansible, or other tools to streamline system management tasks and improve operational efficiency.

    • Implement configuration management using Ansible, Puppet, or Chef to automate repetitive tasks and ensure consistent configurations across environments.

  • Security and Compliance:

    • Implement and maintain security controls to ensure system integrity, confidentiality, and availability.

    • Apply security patches and harden RHEL systems to comply with internal security policies and external regulations.

    • Configure and manage firewalls, SELinux policies, user permissions, and audit logs to maintain a secure environment.

  • Performance Monitoring and Optimization:

    • Monitor system performance, resource utilization, and availability using tools like Nagios, Zabbix, or Prometheus.

    • Diagnose and troubleshoot performance bottlenecks, network issues, and hardware failures, ensuring minimal downtime.

  • Backup and Recovery:

    • Set up and manage regular backup procedures using tools like Veeam, Bacula, or rsync to ensure data protection and disaster recovery readiness.

    • Develop and test system recovery procedures to ensure critical systems can be restored quickly in case of failure.

  • Virtualization and Cloud Integration:

    • Manage and maintain virtualized environments (e.g., VMware, KVM, Hyper-V) and containerization platforms (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).

    • Participate in the setup and integration of Red Hat systems with cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, or OpenStack.
