Consultant System Engineer - SDWAN

Role Summary

The Consultant System Engineer - SDWAN acts as a WAN Network Expert Consultant, providing strategic, architectural, and deep technical leadership across SDWAN and traditional WAN environments. This role is the final escalation authority for complex production issues and a key contributor to network strategy, standards, and innovation.

Key Responsibilities

• Serve as the final (L4) escalation point for critical WAN and SDWAN production incidents.
• Design, review, approve, and govern enterprise WAN & SDWAN architecture and standards.
• Lead complex root cause investigations, advanced debugging, and largescale remediation initiatives.
• Provide expertlevel troubleshooting using Wireshark, Splunk, Netscout, ThousandEyes, scripts, and advanced HCS tools.
• Own network lifecycle management, including product evaluation, software standards, deployment strategies, and EOL planning.
• Audit existing WAN/SDWAN configurations and designs to ensure compliance with best practices.
• Drive automation and programmability initiatives using Python and Ansible at scale.
• Advise senior leadership on industry trends, emerging WAN technologies, and implementation strategies.
• Identify opportunities for process improvement, cost optimization, and solution innovation.
• Collaborate with architects, vendors, and business leaders to influence strategic decisions.
• Provide regular executivelevel updates to Business Line/Unit Heads.

Mandatory Technical Skills

• Expertlevel knowledge of Traditional WAN, MPLS, and SDWAN architectures.
• 12 years of experience in hardcore networking across operations and largescale projects.
• Deep expertise with Cisco WAN and SDWAN ecosystem.
• Advanced troubleshooting and debugging of production networks at scale.
• Strong experience in problem management, lifecycle management, and network governance.
• Mandatory handson expertise in Python and Ansible.
• Proven ability to design, review, and approve enterprisegrade WAN solutions.

Experience & Qualifications

• 12 years of experience in WAN/SDWAN engineering and architecture.
• Experience in large enterprise or global service provider environments.
• CCIE or equivalent expert certification preferred.
