JOB SUMMARY
The Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) is a licensed healthcare professional responsible for providing comprehensive respiratory care to patients across inpatient and outpatient settings. The RRT assesses, treats, and monitors patients with cardiopulmonary disorders and collaborates with physicians and multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement effective respiratory care plans. This role supports 24×7 hospital operations, including departments with on-call coverage.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE ROLE
Clinical Judgment
Performs respiratory assessments, administers respiratory therapies, manages ventilators, and monitors patient responses according to physician orders and established clinical protocols. Identifies and responds promptly to changes in patient condition.
Clinical Inquiry
Evaluates the effectiveness of respiratory treatments and participates in quality improvement initiatives. Supports evidence-based respiratory care practices and clinical performance standards.
Caring Practices
Provides compassionate, patient-centered care by educating patients and families on respiratory therapies and ensuring patient comfort, safety, and dignity during treatments.

Recognizes and respects patient and family diversity, including cultural, spiritual, and socioeconomic differences, and incorporates these considerations into individualized respiratory care plans.
