About The Job:
  • As a Junior Cloud Operations Engineer, you will support day-to-day managed operations for cloud infrastructure and container platforms. You will work within defined operational processes to execute routine tasks, triage and resolve standard incidents, implement approved changes (MAC), and maintain documentation.
  • You will collaborate closely with the customer’s internal teams who retain responsibility for architecture, design, strategic development, and complex third-level support.
Essential Job Functions:
Managed Operations (L1/L2 – Operational Level)
  • Monitor alerts and dashboards; perform initial triage and validation
  • Handle standard incident, problem, and change activities using runbooks
  • Collect evidence (logs, metrics, events), identify common patterns, and apply known fixes
  • Escalate issues clearly when they are ambiguous or high risk
  • Provide operational data and support weekly/monthly reporting
  • Integrate and onboard services into monitoring, logging, and ticketing systems using documented procedures

Routine Execution & Runbook-Based Tasks

  • Execute recurring activities as per operating processes (e.g., start/stop schedules, lock management, housekeeping)
  • Perform patch execution tasks within approved procedures and maintenance windows
  • Maintain ServiceNow hygiene: accurate categorization, timestamps, work notes, and closure notes

Provisioning Support

  • Create or adjust standard cloud resources (e.g., subscriptions, resource groups, services) using templates
  • Implement minor updates to:
  • Terraform modules
  • Ansible playbooks
  • DevOps pipelines
  • Support provisioning of API endpoints based on provided specifications and test connectivity

Move-Add-Change (MAC)

  • Execute low to medium risk changes such as:
  • Scaling, tagging, and minor configuration updates
  • Standard region adjustments (pre-approved)
  • Simple CI/CD variable and pipeline schedule changes
  • Update operating manuals and ServiceNow records for every change
  • Perform weekly policy checks:
  • Identify non-compliant resources
  • Fix straightforward violations and escalate complex cases

Troubleshooting & Vendor Coordination

  • Diagnose standard platform issues (compute, storage, network, containers, pipelines) using dashboards and queries
  • Coordinate with vendors (e.g., Microsoft, Oracle) by sharing logs, reproduction steps, and diagnostics

Documentation (Mandatory)

  • Independently document tasks and updates in:
  • DevOps stories (work items)
  • Wiki, runbooks, and operating manuals
Qualifications:
  • Keep knowledge articles up to date after repeated tickets or changes.
Required Technical Skills
  • Cloud fundamentals (Azure preferred): resource organization, RBAC basics, policies, monitoring.
  • Infrastructure as Code basics: Terraform (variables, modules usage, plan/apply hygiene).
  • Configuration management basics: Ansible (playbook execution, inventories, roles familiarity).
  • CI/CD: Azure DevOps/GitHub pipelines basics; YAML understanding.
  • Observability: monitoring/logging basics (Azure Monitor, Log Analytics concepts).
  • ITSM: ServiceNow ticket lifecycle and change records.
  • Azure certifications (AZ-900, AZ-104), ITIL Foundation.
  • Exposure to container operations (AKS/Kubernetes basics), Helm basics.
  • Experience handling Renovate PRs and dependency updates with CI checks.
  • Basic networking and security awareness: DNS, certificates concepts, least privilege mindset.

Soft Skills

  • Process discipline: follows runbooks, change controls, and documentation standards.
  • Clear written communication: high-quality ticket updates and concise handover notes.
  • Ownership mindset: drives tasks to completion; escalates early with evidence.
  • Attention to detail: avoids operational mistakes; validates post-change health checks.
  • Collaboration: works effectively with customer teams and peers; receptive to feedback.
  • Learning agility: improves technical depth through RCA learnings and post-incident actions.

Experience & Education

  • 3–5 years in Cloud Operations / DevOps Support / SRE Support / Infrastructure Support.
  • Bachelor’s degree in CS/IT or equivalent practical experience.
