Business Development Manager - Govt. Sales
Job Summary
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Sales Professional to drive
business growth in the DRDO/defence_PSU sector. The role involves identifying new
opportunities, managing key client relationships (including government and defence
organizations), and executing sales initiatives. The ideal candidate will have a strong
understanding of defence & PSU procurement processes, regulatory frameworks, and
long sales cycles.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and execute sales strategies to achieve revenue targets in the DRDO /
defence / PSU segment
Identify, qualify, and pursue new business opportunities with DRDO / defence
forces, PSU/ government agencies.
Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including
DRDO/military officials, procurement officers, and industry/channel partners
Manage the complete sales lifecycle, from lead generation to contract closure.
Prepare and deliver technical/commercial proposals, tenders, and presentations.
Track and respond to RFPs, RFIs, and tenders in compliance with
DRDO/defence/PSU procurement policies
Stay updated on DRDO/defence/PSU market trends, competitor activity, and
regulatory changes
Represent the company at industry events, exhibitions, and DRDO/defence/PSU
expos
Required Qualifications & Skills
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Business, or related field (MBA preferred)
7 to 10+ years of sales experience, preferably in DRDO/defence, PSU/govt.
sectors
Strong knowledge of DRDO/defence/PSU procurement procedures/compliance
requirements
Proven track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets in complex, long-cycle
sales environments
Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills
Ability to understand and present solutions effectively
Strong network within defence or PSU/government organizations is highly
desirable
Willingness to travel as required
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working with DRDO, defence PSUs, armed forces, defence
contractors/channel partners, DCWE or CCE R&D teams.
Exposure to high-value contract negotiations
