Job Description
This position reports to an Engineering Manager within the Design Systems team at Salesforce, and requires collaboration with Salesforce Product Accessibility and Inclusive Design team. You'll contribute to updating our design system, delivering the HTML, JavaScript, and CSS for enterprise-level UI components, built with the latest web component technologies. You'll partner with product managers, designers, and accessibility teams, to create robust accessible experiences for our customers. The accessibility of our products starts with our design system components, and in this role you'll have the opportunity to contribute directly to that.
Your Core Skillset
We consider these skills to be essential for success in this role:
- The ability to communicate and document technical concepts clearly, for both technical and non-technical audiences
- Expertise in crafting clear, valid, accessible, semantic HTML markup
- Experience with web components and familiarity with modern front-end frameworks such as React, Vue, Angular, or Ember
- Expert knowledge of CSS
- Experience working on complex projects with a large scale impact
- Clear understanding of modular CSS development, such as BEM, OOCSS, SMACSS, and Atomic Design, and enough experience to articulate the differences between these methodologies
- Thorough knowledge of browser compatibility issues, support, and how to create experiences that adapt across browsers and devices
- Familiarity with ES6 and latest JavaScript advances
- Component-based user interface development experience, including how to construct and deconstruct components, with a focus on creating composable and reusable UI elements
- Practical knowledge of accessibility best practices, WCAG 2.1 AA compliance, and ARIA
- Familiarity with front-end testing frameworks, the value they provide, and how to write effective tests
- A strong handle on debugging and troubleshooting
