About the role: The Data Platform Consultant (Microsoft Fabric & Databricks) will design, implement, and optimise modern data platforms using Microsoft Fabric and Azure Databricks as the primary analytics and data engineering platforms. This role focuses on building scalable, governed Lakehouse-first architectures that support analytics, reporting, and AI use cases, while integrating operational data and enabling near-real-time insight where required.
Responsibilities:
- Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Fabric, including Lakehouse architecture, data pipelines, notebooks, semantic models, and Power BI integration
- Strong hands-on experience with Azure Databricks including Spark, PySpark, Delta Lake, and performance optimisation
- Experience designing Bronze, Silver, and Gold data architectures
- Experience with ingestion and orchestration using Fabric Pipelines, Azure Data Factory, or Databricks Workflows
- Familiarity with Azure Synapse Link for near-real-time analytics scenarios
- Strong SQL and Python skills
- Good understanding of data governance, security, and metadata-driven architectures
- Strong communication skills and ability to work directly with client stakeholders
Requirements:
- Design and deliver Fabric- and Databricks-led data platforms
- Build scalable Lakehouse architectures supporting BI and advanced analytics
- Develop and optimise data pipelines and transformations
- Integrate operational systems into analytics platforms
- Apply best practices for performance, cost management, governance, and security
- Support client enablement and knowledge sharing
- Stay current with Microsoft Fabric, Databricks, and Azure data services
