Service Asset and Configuration Management (SACM) Analyst

Job Description

Configuration Management

  • Maintain and update the CMDB with accurate information on all CIs.
  • Ensure that all CIs are properly identified, classified, and recorded.
  • Perform regular audits of the CMDB to ensure data accuracy and integrity.
  • Develop and maintain configuration management processes and procedures.


Asset Management

  • Track and manage IT assets throughout their lifecycle, from acquisition to disposal.
  • Ensure that all IT assets are properly tagged and recorded in the asset management system.
  • Conduct regular asset audits to verify the accuracy of asset records.
  • Work with Paragon Service Management, Procurement and Finance teams to ensure accurate asset tracking and reporting.


Process Improvement

  • Identify opportunities for process improvements in SACM practices.
  • Develop and implement process improvements to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of SACM activities.
  • Collaborate with other IT teams to ensure alignment of SACM processes with overall IT service management (ITSM) practices and within ITIL framework.

Reporting and Analysis

  • Generate and distribute regular reports on SACM activities and metrics.
  • Analyse SACM data to identify trends and areas for improvement.
  • Provide insights and recommendations based on data analysis to support decision-making.


Compliance and Governance

  • Ensure compliance with relevant policies, standards, and regulations related to SACM.
  • Develop and maintain SACM documentation, including policies, procedures, and work instructions.

Conduct training and awareness sessions on SACM processes and best practices


Technical Experience:


ITIL Accreditation

  • ITIL Accreditation and a solid understanding of ITIL principles, especially those related to SACM, is crucial.


Configuration Management Database (CMDB)

  • Experience with Service Now and its CMDB components is essential.


Lifecycle Management

  • Proficiency in managing the lifecycle of IT assets and configuration items, including procurement, deployment, maintenance, and retirement.


Software License Management

  • Knowledge of software license management and compliance to ensure that all software assets are properly licensed3.


Discovery Tools

  • Familiarity with inventory discovery tools and infrastructure management tools that provide asset inventory data would be advantageous.

  • Experience of working with a third party in a service delivery organisation.
