Staff Machine Learning Engineer

Role: Staff ML Engineer

Location: Bangalore (Hybrid)

As a Staff ML Engineer, you are a senior technical leader who shapes the ML engineering strategy and capabilities across the organization. You will tackle the most challenging technical

problems, drive innovation, and set the technical direction for ML initiatives. This role combines deep technical expertise with strategic thinking and broad organizational impact.

What you will do

• Define and drive the technical vision and strategy for ML engineering across multiple teams

• Architect and lead implementation of organization-wide ML platforms, frameworks, and infrastructure

• Solve the most complex and ambiguous technical challenges in the ML domain

• Establish technical standards, best practices, and guidelines that elevate engineering quality org-wide

• Partner with senior leadership to align ML initiatives with business strategy and objectives

• Mentor and develop senior engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence and innovation

• Represent the organization externally through publications, conferences, and industry engagement

• Evaluate and introduce emerging technologies and methodologies to maintain competitive advantage

• Lead technical due diligence for partnerships, acquisitions, and strategic technology decisions

• Drive cross-organizational initiatives that improve ML development efficiency and effectiveness

Who you are

• Master's or PhD in Computer Science, Machine Learning, or related field preferred

• 8-12 years of progressive experience in ML engineering with significant leadership impact

• Proven track record of architecting and delivering large-scale ML systems in production

• Deep expertise across multiple ML domains (NLP, CV, Recommendations, etc.) and methodologies

• Strong experience building ML platforms, infrastructure, and tooling at scale

• Exceptional ability to influence technical direction without direct authority

• Outstanding communication and presentation skills for technical and executive audiences

• History of mentoring engineers and building high-performing technical teams

• Extensive experience with Generative AI technologies including LLMs, foundation models, fine-tuning strategies, and production deployment of GenAI systems

Preferred Qualifications

• Industry recognition through publications, patents, or significant open-source

contributions

• Experience with cutting-edge ML technologies including LLMs, generative AI, and foundation models

• Background in building ML organizations and defining career ladders for ML roles

• Experience with regulatory compliance and responsible AI practices

• Track record of successful cross-functional leadership on strategic initiatives
