Job Description – Plant Operations Head - Gujarat

Position Title: Plant Operations Head

Department: Operations / Manufacturing

Reporting To: COO

Location: Bharuch, Gujarat

Job Purpose

The Plant Operations Head is responsible for leading the overall plant operations and ensuring achievement of business objectives related to production, profitability, safety, quality, and customer satisfaction. The role is accountable for the plant’s overall P&Lperformance, operational excellence, and strategic execution while driving continuous improvement across all functions.

Key Responsibilities

1. Overall Plant Leadership & P&L Management

• Lead end-to-end plant operations with full accountability for plant performance and profitability.
• Drive achievement of production, quality, cost, delivery, and safety targets aligned with business objectives.
• Manage and optimize plant budgets, operational costs, and resource utilisation to improve profitability.

2. Strategy, Policy & Governance

• Establish, implement, and review departmental policies, systems, goals, objectives, and operating procedures to ensure operational efficiency and compliance.
• Develop short-term and long-term operational plans aligned with organisational growth strategy.

3. Cross-Functional Operations Management

• Direct and coordinate key functional areas, including:
• Environment, Health & Safety (EHS)
• Production
• Engineering & Maintenance
• Production Planning & Control (PPC)
• Quality Assurance
• Finance
• Sales Coordination
• Ensure seamless interdepartmental collaboration to achieve plant objectives.

4. People Management & Capability Building

• Assess manpower requirements and oversee workforce planning.
• Interviewing and training of employees.
• Build a high-performance culture through coaching, mentoring, and capability development of teams.

5. Operational Excellence & Daily Management

• Conduct daily reviews on:
• Plant safety performance
• Production output and schedule adherence
• Product quality status
• Productivity metrics
• Process wastage and loss reduction
• Ensure corrective and preventive actions are implemented effectively.

6. KPI Monitoring & Performance Reviews

Lead monthly reviews of key plant performance indicators, including:

• Budget vs Actual Departmental Expenses
• Customer Complaints
• DIFOTIS (Delivery In Full, On Time, In Specification)
• Process Wastage
• Machine Breakdown / Downtime
• Energy Consumption & Cost
• Continuous Improvement (CI) Projects

7. Continuous Improvement & Cost Optimisation

• Drive Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, TPM, and other operational excellence initiatives.
• Identify and implement productivity improvement and cost-saving opportunities.

8. Compliance & Safety

• Ensure compliance with all statutory, regulatory, environmental, and company standards.
• Foster a strong safety culture and ensure zero-harm workplace practices.

Candidate Profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering; Master’s degree preferred.
• 15+ years of manufacturing/plant operations experience, with significant leadership experience.
• Strong exposure to large-scale plant operations and P&L management.
• Proven experience in leading cross-functional teams and driving operational excellence initiatives.
• Strong leadership, analytical, and decision-making skills.
