Senior Analyst, AML Analytics
ABOUT THE TEAM:
Exciting opportunity for an experienced leader to work in our Ongoing Monitoring team. As a member of the team, we're looking for someone who is passionate about customer experience and fighting financial crime and wants to help drive our business forward as we continue to grow and expand in new markets.
Ongoing Monitoring sits in our first line of defence (1LoD) operations' department, responsible for monitoring the activity of our SME customers ('members') for the purpose of preventing, detecting and reporting sanctions, money laundering, terrorism financing, tax evasion, bribery and corruption, money mules and fraud.
It's an opportunity to work with an amazing team across multiple geographies, including analysts, team leaders, product and engineering managers, data scientists and operations managers. The role has exposure to many senior stakeholders across the business and is at the heart of what we do to protect our customers.
ABOUT THE ROLE:
As a Senior Analyst, AML Analytics, you will be a key technical and statistical designer of Tide's AML monitoring controls, making your role crucial to achieving our strategic goals. You will be at the forefront of our mission to move towards more sophisticated, behaviour-based monitoring and to implement advanced optimisation and segmentation across our systems. Your work will directly strengthen our detection capabilities and ensure our AML framework is effective, efficient, and scalable.
- Designing and Developing Advanced Monitoring Models: You will be the technical and statistical architect for Tide's AML monitoring controls, leading the evolution of our capabilities from simple transaction-level triggers to sophisticated, behaviour-based models that provide a holistic view of member activity.
- Optimising and Enhancing the Detection Framework: You will apply advanced statistical methods and optimisation techniques to continuously refine our monitoring framework, strategically balancing key objectives like increasing the detection of suspicious activity while strengthening operational productivity.
- Implementing Targeted, Risk-Based Controls: You will translate emerging AML typologies and risk policies into effective, data-driven logic. This includes developing and deploying robust member segmentation strategies to ensure our monitoring is precisely targeted and aligned with risk.
- Ensuring Model Integrity and Transparency: You will be responsible for creating and maintaining clear, audit-ready technical documentation for all models and controls, ensuring our work is transparent, explainable, and defensible to both internal and external stakeholders.
- Driving Strategic Innovation in AML Analytics: You will actively contribute to the AML Analytics roadmap by identifying and championing new opportunities to innovate, helping to shape the future of our detection capabilities in line with our guiding principle of continuous improvement.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:
- A minimum of 4 years of experience in a data analytics function, with a strong preference for roles within financial crime or risk management function.
- High level of proficiency in SQL and Python, with extensive hands-on experience using libraries like Pandas and PySpark to build, validate, and optimise complex models from large datasets.
- Demonstrable experience applying optimisation algorithms and statistical methods to solve real-world problems, such as balancing model precision and recall or managing alert volumes.
- The proven ability to translate abstract concepts, such as emerging money laundering typologies or risk policies, into concrete, data-driven monitoring logic.
- A strong understanding of the principles behind financial crime regulatory frameworks and their practical application in the design of transaction monitoring systems.
- Exceptional communication skills, with a proven ability to explain complex technical and statistical concepts (like model design and optimisation trade-offs) to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
