Role summary

We're looking for a Director of Data who is a tech-enthusiast with a drive for excellence, and an out-of-the-box mindset to satisfy business needs in a complex payment solution environment.

Lead Payoneer's Data function in India as the primary POC for the global Data organization, covering BI/DE/DPM/Analytics. Own all sprint work, ensuring India's full workplan is represented in planning ceremonies and executed with high quality.

Location - Gurugram (Work from Office)

What You'll Do:

  • Leadership & Site Ownership - Manage and develop the India Data team while representing global data disciplines locally; ensure clear standards, strong execution, and alignment.
  • Sprint Ownership & Workplan Execution - Own the full sprint cycle end-to-end; represent India in planning, highlight dependencies, and ensure committed work is delivered.
  • Orchestration Across Data Functions - Coordinate ingestion, modeling, reporting, data product work, and governance; remove blockers and ensure seamless collaboration with global teams.
  • Data Product & Requirements Management - Translate business needs into scoped data requirements; ensure consistent definitions, modeling standards, and high-quality outputs.
  • Governance, Quality & Compliance - Enforce data governance, documentation, PII and audit processes; ensure India deliverables meet data quality and compliance expectations.
  • Modernization & Platform Alignment - Lead India execution for cloud migration, Looker rollout, semantic layer, and event framework adoption; drive adherence to modern best practices.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration - Partner with product, engineering, compliance, and domain leaders; communicate progress, risks, and capacity clearly across global forums.

What We're Looking For:

  • 15+ years in Data/Analytics with 5+ years in leadership roles.
  • Strong background in BI, Data Engineering, or Data Product Management.
  • Experience leading cross-functional data teams in global/matrix setups.
  • Hands-on knowledge of modern data stacks (BigQuery, Looker).
  • Excellent communication, prioritization, and stakeholder-management skills.
  • Ability to drive structure, alignment, and predictable delivery.

Nice to have

  • Experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
  • Experience with AI tools.
  • Proficiency in data modeling techniques.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the payments industry.
  • Bachelor's degree in industrial engineering/information systems or equivalent.
