Role Overview

We are seeking a highly experienced and detail oriented Senior Test Lead to lead and optimize the overall testing function. This role is responsible for ensuring high quality product releases by defining test strategies, managing test teams, driving automation and process excellence, and enabling continuous improvement across tools, frameworks, and delivery models—particularly within complex T&S / enterprise data ecosystems.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Planning & Execution

• Define, implement, and continuously improve end to end test strategies, best practices, and quality standards aligned with business objectives.
• Build scalable E2E testing capabilities across programs, releases, and platforms.
• Plan testing scope, release and sprint activities, resource allocation, and E2E test execution for complex systems.

Team Leadership & Development

• Lead, mentor, and coach a team of QA engineers and test professionals.
• Foster a collaborative, high performance, and quality driven culture.
• Guide teams with a hands on approach when required, including troubleshooting automation and framework issues.

Test Automation & Frameworks

• Lead and govern test automation initiatives, ensuring optimal coverage, reusability, and performance.
• Design and promote scalable and reusable test framework architectures that can be applied across multiple teams.
• Ensure compliance with Shell standard testing tools and frameworks for Test Delivery Assurance.
• Willingness to perform hands on testing as and when required.

Process Improvement & Quality Assurance

• Identify gaps in testing processes, tools, and methodologies and implement measurable improvements.
• Establish and monitor quality metrics, dashboards, and reporting mechanisms.
• Ensure testing activities adhere to defined quality standards and best practices.

Stakeholder Collaboration & Communication

• Work closely with Product Managers, Developers, Business Analysts, Designers, and Testers to translate requirements into effective test strategies and frameworks.
• Communicate test status, risks, and quality insights clearly to leadership and stakeholders.
• Provide strategic advice rooted in experience across Functional, Regression, Integration, Interface testing, and UAT support.

Risk & Vendor Management

• Proactively identify testing and delivery risks, flag issues early, and implement mitigation strategies.
• Manage relationships with external vendors and partners, when applicable.

Data Driven Quality Insights

• Collect, analyze, and interpret test and quality data to identify trends and improvement opportunities.
• Drive optimization initiatives to improve delivery efficiency and effectiveness.

Must Have Skills & Experience

• 13+ years of testing experience across Agile and Waterfall delivery models.
• Strong expertise in defining and executing E2E testing strategies at scale.
• Hands on experience with Azure DevOps, including:
  • Requirements traceability
  • Test plans, test labs
  • Defect management and reporting
• Experience across multiple testing types:
  • Unit (support), Smoke/Sanity
  • Functional, System, Integration, SIT
  • Regression and UAT support
• Proven ability to design and implement generic, scalable test frameworks.
• Strong experience in release planning, sprint planning, resource planning, and E2E test coordination.
• Ability to design and execute detailed functional test cases for complex requirements.
• Excellent written and verbal communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Comfortable working in ambiguous and high pressure environments.
• Experienced in working with virtual, geographically distributed teams.
• Strong leadership, influence, and change driving capabilities.
• Proactive, organized, and quality focused mindset with a long term vision.

Technical Skill Set

Data & Engineering Foundations

• Strong experience with relational databases, data warehouses, and SQL query authoring.
• Familiarity with NoSQL databases and ability to support E2E data pipelines.
• Expertise in building and optimizing complex SQL queries and working with large, disconnected datasets.

Data & Cloud Technologies

• Proven experience with one or more of:
  • ADLS, ADF, Azure Databricks, Azure SQL, Synapse, SAP HANA
• Experience handling large data volumes and big data platforms.

Scripting & Programming

• In depth knowledge of at least one scripting language:
  • Python, SQL, Spark SQL, PySpark
• Strong understanding of Data Foundation initiatives, including:
  • Data Modeling
  • Data Quality Management
  • Data Governance
  • Data Maturity Assessments
  • Data Strategy alignment with business stakeholders

Nice to Have Skills

• Experience building or enhancing CI/CD pipelines.
• Scripting experience with YAML, PowerShell, Terraform.
• Exposure to big data and streaming technologies:
  • Kafka, Hadoop, Spark, stream processing systems
• Experience with data pipeline orchestration tools:
  • Airflow, Azkaban, Luigi
• Core Python libraries: NumPy, Pandas, Django
• Experience with data visualization tools: Power BI, QlikSense

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Testing certifications (e.g., ISTQB) are a strong plus.
