Role Overview

The Manager will play a senior leadership role within KPMG India's Regulatory practice, managing complex regulatory engagements, leading client relationships, and directly interfacing with senior Central and State Government officials. The role is designed to operate with significant autonomy, client ownership and responsibility.

This position requires deep understanding of India's regulatory ecosystem, strong judgment, and the ability to convert regulatory complexity into practical business solutions.

Key Responsibilities

Client & Engagement Leadership

Lead endtoend regulatory engagements involving:

Central Ministries (e.g., DPIIT, MCA, MeitY, MHA, MEA, MoF, MoCI)

State Governments, State Secretariats and Statelevel authorities

Regulators and statutory bodies (e.g., SEBI, RBI, IRDAI, State regulators)

Act as the primary daytoday point of contact for senior client stakeholders

Advise clients on:

Regulatory strategy, risk assessment and mitigation

Licensing, approvals, structuring and regulatory readiness

Regulatory support for M&A, FDI, IPOs and major investments

Manage interactions with regulators, including meetings, submissions and inspections

Technical & Advisory Leadership

Interpret complex regulatory developments and provide clear, actionable advice

Review and sign off on regulatory analyses, representations and submissions

Support policy advocacy initiatives, including drafting policy representations and consultation responses

Monitor regulatory and policy developments at both Central and State levels and proactively engage clients

Team & Practice Management: Lead, mentor and review work of Executives and Senior team members

Ensure quality control, risk management, independence and documentation discipline

Collaborate with Tax, Legal, M&A, ESG and sector teams for integrated client delivery

Contribute to proposals, pitches, client presentations and business development efforts

Support thought leadership initiatives, client forums and regulatory roundtables


Skills and Attributes

Strong regulatory interpretation and strategic advisory capability

Excellent stakeholder management and negotiation skills

High level of professional judgment and decisionmaking

Ability to operate with autonomy in highvisibility client situations

Strong people leadership and review capability

Excellent written and spoken English; working knowledge of Hindi and Statelevel nuances strongly preferred

Commercial mindset and experience contributing to practice growth

Qualifications and Experience

Bachelor'sdegree in Law, Economics or Political Science (Master's degree or relevantcertifications preferred)

8-12+years of experience in regulatory advisory, consulting, legal practice,corporate affairs or public policy

Demonstratedexperience engaging with Central and State Government authorities andregulators

Proventrack record in managing complex regulatory assignments independently
