Design, configure, and maintain Layer 2 and Layer 3 switching infrastructure using Cisco, Juniper, or other vendor switches.
Implement VLANs, STP (Spanning Tree Protocol), EtherChannel, Port Security, and other switching protocols.
Manage routing protocols like OSPF, EIGRP, BGP as needed in collaboration with routing teams.
Monitor network performance and troubleshoot switching-related issues.
Configure and support access control lists (ACLs) and network segmentation.
Perform switch firmware upgrades, patches, and backups.
Collaborate with network security teams to implement best practices and security policies.
Document network configurations, topology diagrams, and standard operating procedures.
Participate in network capacity planning and upgrades.
Support network incident investigations and root cause analysis.
Required Skills:
3+ years of experience in enterprise network switching.
Strong hands-on experience with Cisco Catalyst / Nexus switches or equivalent (Juniper EX/QFX, Arista).
Deep knowledge of VLANs, STP/RSTP/MSTP, EtherChannel, and switch stacking.
Familiarity with Layer 3 routing protocols (OSPF, EIGRP, BGP) a plus.
Understanding of QoS, Multicast, and network security concepts.
Experience with network monitoring tools (SolarWinds, Wireshark, etc.).
Ability to troubleshoot complex network issues.
Knowledge of network automation tools (Python, Ansible) is a plus.
