Solaris Admin
Key Responsibilities:
System Administration: Install, configure, maintain, and upgrade Solaris OS (versions 10/11) on SPARC and x86 hardware platforms.
Patch Management: Plan, schedule, and apply OS patches, updates, and firmware upgrades in accordance with IT change management practices.
Performance Tuning: Monitor and optimize system performance, ensuring maximum uptime and reliability of Solaris servers.
Filesystem & Storage Management: Manage ZFS, UFS file systems, and integrate with enterprise storage solutions (SAN/NAS).
User & Security Management: Create and manage user accounts, roles, and permissions; enforce security policies and hardening standards.
Backup & Recovery: Implement and maintain backup/recovery procedures using tools like NetBackup, Legato, or native Solaris utilities.
Incident & Problem Management: Troubleshoot and resolve system issues, engage in root cause analysis, and document solutions.
Automation & Scripting: Automate routine tasks using Shell, Perl, or Python scripting.
System Monitoring: Use tools like Nagios, Solaris Explorer, or Oracle Enterprise Manager to monitor system health and proactively address issues.
Virtualization: Manage Solaris Containers (Zones), LDOMs, and integration with virtualization platforms.
Documentation: Maintain accurate and up-to-date system documentation, SOPs, and incident logs.
Collaboration: Work closely with database, application, and network teams to support deployments and cross-functional IT initiatives.
