The Manager - MDL/DAT/Sourcing will lead the data sourcing function within the Models (MDL) team in Bangalore, supporting Credit Risk model development. The role ensures high-quality, well-governed data is delivered for model development, calibration, and monitoring while managing key governance and stakeholder interactions.
Role Description
- Lead and manage a four-member MDL/DAT/Sourcing team, ensuring effective delivery of data sourcing activities for Credit Risk models. Drive team performance through clear planning, prioritization, and execution of deliverables.
- Support the Data Management Office (DMO) by defining and maintaining Critical Data Elements (CDEs) and their associated metadata. Ensure alignment with regulatory expectations and internal data governance standards.
- Oversee resolution of data quality issues by tracing data lineage end-to-end to identify root causes. Coordinate with IT and Business Units to implement timely and sustainable remediation.
- Lead data homologation efforts across systems to ensure consistency and accuracy during system upgrades or migrations. Validate that data in new systems aligns with legacy system outputs and business expectations.
- Act as a key liaison between data, technology, and business stakeholders to ensure seamless collaboration. Drive alignment on priorities, timelines, and regulatory commitments.
- Manage project planning and execution across multiple initiatives, ensuring timely delivery against defined milestones. Monitor progress, mitigate risks, and ensure high standards of quality and compliance.
- Experience: 10 years of experience in Data Management, preferably within the Credit Risk domain, with demonstrated leadership of small to mid-sized teams. Proven ability to manage end-to-end data lifecycle in a regulatory-driven environment.
- Domain Expertise: Strong understanding of Credit Risk data, models (PD, LGD, EAD), and associated data requirements. Familiarity with concepts such as Critical Data Elements (CDEs), data lineage, and regulatory data governance expectations is essential.
- Data Governance & Quality Skills: Hands-on experience in defining data standards, implementing data quality frameworks, and driving issue resolution processes. Ability to work with metadata, data dictionaries, and governance tools.
- Analytical & Problem-Solving Skills: Strong ability to trace and analyze data issues across complex data flows and systems. Experience in identifying root causes and driving structured remediation with stakeholders.
- System & Data Knowledge: Good understanding of data architecture, data sourcing, and transformations across systems. Experience with data homologation, system migrations, or reconciliation between legacy and new platforms is highly desirable.
- Stakeholder Management: Proven ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including IT, Business Units, Risk, and Data Governance teams. Strong communication skills to translate technical issues into business context.
- Leadership & Project Management: Demonstrated ability to lead teams, manage multiple priorities, and deliver projects on time. Strong planning, execution, and risk management capabilities.
- Tools & Technical Skills: Proficiency in SQL and data analysis tools is preferred. Familiarity with data governance or lineage tools will be an advantage.
- Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering, Data Science, Finance, or a related field preferred.
