Job Description
Automotive Research Association of India (ARAI), Pune is a premier Automotive Research Institute, with the Ministry of Heavy Industries, involved in R&D, Homologation, Testing & Certification, Calibration & Skill Development services to Automotive and Allied industries globally.
We are looking for the following position for our Durability team, part of the Engineering Design & Simulation (EDS) Laboratory
Project Specific Research Engineer – FEA Engineer (Durability Domain) (03 – ARAI Contract)
Location – HTC - Chakan
The candidate should have completed Bachelors BE/ME/M.Tech in Mechanical Engineering from reputed University with minimum First Class
Work Experience: Min. 3-6 years of overall experience in durability domain.
Description of Duties:
- To build complete vehicle model, meshing, boundary condition application, and load case setup.
- Perform static, dynamic, and fatigue analysis using FEA tools (e.g., HyperMesh, OptiStruct, Nastran, Abaqus, Design life/FEMFATetc).
- Support design validation through simulation-driven insights and provide design improvement recommendations.
- Perform linear and nonlinear structural analysis, including contact, large deformation, and material nonlinearity studies.
- Execute fatigue life assessment and spot weld fatigue analysis for assemblies.
- Prepare technical reports and presentations summarizing simulation methods, assumptions, and results.
- Participate in design reviews and contribute to achieving target performance and durability goals.
Required Skills:
- Strong proficiency in FEA pre/post-processing tools viz. HyperMesh.
- Experience with solvers like Abaqus, OptiStruct, Nastran,.
- Knowledge of fatigue life prediction tools (e.g., nCode or FEMFAT).
- Understanding of material behaviour, load cases, and vehicle/component testing methods will be an added advantage
Other Requirements:
- Working in shifts, if required
- Good track record
