About the company
InCommon is hiring on behalf of a stealth-mode startup focused on building transformative AI-powered solutions.
About the Team
Holds the SOTA benchmark on %, ranked first ahead of Mem0, Zep, and Supermemory. The applied AI team owns the work that produced that number and the work that extends it retrieval quality, context construction, temporal reasoning, and memory performance under real production conditions.
About the Role
Own the applied AI function end to end. That means leading the work that turns research directions into production capabilities, running the benchmark programme that proves technical leadership, and being the credible technical voice in enterprise evaluations, investor conversations, and public research. You will work directly with the founding engineering team. The benchmark is yours to defend and extend.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Own the technical roadmap for memory quality and retrieval performance
- Lead the benchmark and evaluation programme - internal evals, public benchmarks, competitive analysis
- Define the retrieval and context construction architecture across all product tiers
- Partner with enterprise customers on applied AI problems requiring custom memory configurations
- Publish research that reinforces technical credibility
- Hire and grow the applied AI team
What we are looking for?
- 5–8 years in applied ML, AI systems, or LLM infrastructure
- Has shipped production AI systems, not just papers
- Deep understanding of retrieval architectures, RAG, and context management for LLMs
- Can move between research-mode thinking and engineering-mode execution in the same week
- Background at an AI lab, frontier model company, or AI infrastructure startup
- Specific experience with memory systems, knowledge graphs, or long-context reasoning
- Run rigorous evaluation or benchmark programmes
- Prior experience leading a small applied AI or research engineering team
