Summary:
We are seeking a skilled Windows Systems Administrator to support the availability, performance, security, and recoverability of enterprise Windows infrastructure. The ideal candidate will possess strong experience administering Windows Server environments in a large enterprise setting and be able to communicate clearly during operational support activities and high-severity incidents. This role is responsible for day-to-day infrastructure operations, incident response, proactive monitoring, patching, automation, and collaboration across infrastructure, storage, network, security, and application teams to restore and maintain business-critical services.
Responsibilities:
- Administer and support Windows Server environments, including build, configuration, hardening, and lifecycle management.
- Manage core Windows services including Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy, IIS, and file/print services.
- Perform routine patching, upgrades, and vulnerability remediation in accordance with enterprise security standards.
- Ensure system availability through monitoring, capacity planning, and performance tuning.
- Serve as a technical responder for Priority 1 and Priority 2 infrastructure incidents, following the defined Critical Incident Management process.
- Participate in incident bridges and Teams war rooms, providing timely technical updates and root cause observations.
- Open, update, and manage ServiceNow incidents, ensuring accurate prioritization, documentation, and SLA adherence.
- Assist with service restoration first and contribute to post-incident remediation and improvement actions once stability is restored.
- Monitor system health using enterprise monitoring and alerting tools and proactively address risks before service impact occurs.
- Review logs, alerts, and system metrics to identify trends, failures, and capacity constraints.
- Support or develop automation using PowerShell, scheduled tasks, or orchestration tools to reduce manual operational effort.
- Contribute to standard operating procedures and runbooks for common failure scenarios.
- Apply security baselines and configuration standards to Windows systems.
- Support audit and compliance activities through accurate documentation and evidence gathering.
- Collaborate with cybersecurity teams on incident response, vulnerability remediation, and access controls.
- Work closely with storage, virtualization, Linux, network, and application teams during outages and planned changes.
- Maintain high-quality technical documentation, diagrams, and operational procedures.
- Provide guidance and mentoring to junior administrators and operational partners as needed.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Information Technology, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- 3+ years of experience in Windows Server administration or related occupation.
Required Skills:
- Windows Server (2016/2019/2022) installation, configuration, and administration for enterprise server management.
- Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, and Windows authentication for enterprise identity and core platform services.
- VMware vSphere or Microsoft Hyper-V virtualized server environments for enterprise infrastructure.
- PowerShell scripting and automation to streamline system administration workflows.
- Windows Server Update Services (WSUS) and patch management to maintain security patching standards within enterprise.
- Security hardening using CIS benchmarks and vulnerability remediation to maintain compliance standards within enterprise.
- Configuring and administering Certificate Services (PKI/AD CS) and TLS 1.2 for end-to-end encryption for backend services in a Windows Server deployment.
- High availability (HA) architectures using Windows Server Failover Clustering (WSFC) and disaster recovery (DR) planning.
- Backup and recovery using Windows Server Backup or Veeam for data protection and business continuity.
- Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM/MECM) for endpoint management and software deployment across the enterprise.
- Azure Active Directory (Entra ID), hybrid identity solutions, and Azure Arc for cloud-connected infrastructure management.
- IIS (Internet Information Services) web server administration, NTFS permissions, file share management, and enterprise storage administration.
- Knowledge of creating and managing enterprise Windows infrastructure consisting of hardware, virtualization, storage, and networking components; ability to utilize related tools and technologies to develop scalable infrastructure solutions.
