Manager, Billing Operations

This role is a high-impact leadership position responsible for overseeing end-to-end billing operations in a fast-paced, global SaaS environment. You will manage complex consumption-based billing processes, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely execution across Direct and Marketplace billing models. The position plays a critical role in maintaining financial integrity during month-end and quarter-end close cycles while enabling reliable revenue visibility for the business. You will work closely with FP&A, GTM Operations, and cross-functional teams to support forecasting and financial planning. The role combines hands-on operational expertise with team leadership, process optimization, and systems ownership. You will also drive improvements in billing automation, data accuracy, and reporting quality using tools such as NetSuite. This is an opportunity to shape scalable billing operations in a highly analytical and data-driven environment.
Accountabilities:
- Lead end-to-end billing operations across consumption-based, Direct, and Marketplace billing models, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with contractual and internal policies.
- Perform billing validations, reconciliations, and variance analysis between Marketplace data and NetSuite outputs, driving resolution of discrepancies.
- Oversee month-end and quarter-end close activities, ensuring smooth execution with no delays or escalations.
- Develop, maintain, and optimize reports, dashboards, and saved searches in NetSuite to support operational and business insights.
- Manage billing queries and communications, ensuring timely, accurate, and professional resolution of issues.
- Partner with FP&A and GTM Operations teams to support forecasting, accruals, and revenue visibility.
- Drive process improvements, automation initiatives, and operational efficiencies across billing workflows.
- Lead and manage a team of 4-5 billing professionals, providing guidance, performance management, and operational oversight.
Requirements:
- Chartered Accountant (CA), CPA, or CMA with 7+ years of experience, or MBA/M.Com in Finance with 10+ years of relevant experience.
- Strong hands-on experience in billing operations, preferably in consumption-based or usage-based billing environments.
- Proficiency in NetSuite is strongly preferred, with exposure to Salesforce or similar CRM tools being an advantage.
- Advanced Excel skills with strong capability in handling large datasets and complex reconciliations.
- Proven experience in managing and mentoring small teams in a high-performance environment.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and attention-to-detail skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, especially for professional stakeholder interactions.
- Ability to prioritize effectively and work in a fast-paced, global, and cross-functional environment.
- Strong ownership mindset with the ability to manage complex billing scenarios independently.
- Experience with marketplace billing (AWS, Azure, or similar) and subscription billing tools is a plus.
