Responsibilities
· Design, implement, and operate virtualized infrastructure using VMware vSphere, Proxmox VE, and OpenStack for Linux, Windows, and Windows Server workloads.
· Build and automate OS provisioning and golden images across hypervisors and cloud platforms (templates, cloud init, scripts etc.).
· Configure and manage core services including DNS, DHCP, NTP, Active Directory/LDAP, and IAM/AAA (RBAC, SSO, MFA).
· Deploy, upgrade, and operate Kubernetes clusters (on-prem and managed services such as OpenShift, AKS, EKS, GKE), including worker lifecycle, CNI, ingress, and basic storage integration.
· Support and administer public cloud environments on Azure, AWS, and GCP (focus on compute, networking, storage, IAM, and cost awareness).
· Administer Cisco network switches, routers, and firewalls, including VLANs, routing, VPNs, ACLs, and firewall policies in line with security standards.
· Collaborate with storage teams to provision and consume SAN/NAS resources; understand RAID, LUNs, snapshots, backup/restore, and capacity/performance considerations.
· Implement OS and infrastructure security controls, including hardening, patching, endpoint security, and firewall rules.

Preferred Skill Set
Primary
· Strong hands on experience with Cisco, VMware vSphere (ESXi, vCenter) and at least one of Proxmox VE or OpenStack.
· Solid administration experience in Linux (RHEL/CentOS/Ubuntu) and Windows Server (installation, configuration, hardening, troubleshooting).
· Working knowledge of Azure and AWS (VMs/EC2, VPC/VNet, security groups/NSG, IAM, storage, load balancers); familiarity with GCP/GKE is highly desirable.
· Experience deploying and operating Kubernetes clusters on-prem and in the cloud (AKS/EKS/GKE), including basic observability and backup concepts.
· Good understanding of networking fundamentals: TCP/IP, VLANs, routing, switching, DNS, VPN, load balancing, and firewall concepts.
· Practical experience with Cisco networking and enterprise firewalls (e.g., Cisco ASA/FTD or equivalent).
· Understanding of storage fundamentals (SAN, NAS, iSCSI, NFS, RAID levels, snapshots, replication).
· Ability to create clear, accurate, and supportable network and infrastructure diagrams and documentation.
· Familiarity with ITIL processes and hands on use of ServiceNow or similar ITSM platforms; prior CAB participation is an advantage.
· Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, ability to handle high severity incidents, and perform structured root cause analysis.
· Excellent communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across teams and present technical topics to non technical stakeholders.
Secondary
· Exposure to automation / Infrastructure as Code (e.g., Ansible, Terraform, PowerShell, Python) and CI/CD concepts.
· Experience with monitoring and observability tools (Prometheus, Grafana, Zabbix, ELK/EFK, or similar).
· Experience working in hybrid cloud environments and on-prem to cloud migration or modernization initiatives.
Qualifications:
· 8–10 years of strong experience in infrastructure / systems engineering within enterprise environments.
· Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
· Certifications in one or more areas: VMware (VCP), Red Hat (RHCSA/RHCE), Microsoft/Azure, AWS Associate/Professional, GCP, Kubernetes (CKA/CKAD), Cisco (CCNA/CCNP), ITIL Foundation.
· Demonstrated experience working in production environments with high availability, disaster recovery, and business continuity requirements.
