Peer Review Manager

As a rapidly growing company, with offices in the USA, UK, Australia, and India servicing clients in over 60 countries, we are seeking talented and ambitious individuals to join our company.\n\nAbout the Role\n\nJoVE is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Peer Review Manager to lead and optimize the peer review process for the JoVE Journal. The Peer Review Manager will oversee peer review operations, manage a team of editors, and drive continuous improvements in workflow, reviewer engagement, and author experience.\n\nResponsibilities:\n\nOversee the end-to-end peer review process from manuscript submission to final editorial decision.\nManage and mentor a team of Peer Review Editors, fostering a high-performance, collaborative culture.\nProvide training, feedback, and performance tracking to ensure team success and publication growth.\nMonitor key performance metrics (e.g., time to first decision, reviewer turnaround, acceptance rates).\nIdentify bottlenecks and implement process improvements, automation, and best practices to enhance efficiency.\nDevelop strategies to improve reviewer engagement, retention, and turnaround times.\nWork closely with Editorial, Production, and Content teams to ensure a seamless publication process.\nExplore and implement AI and automation tools to enhance peer review efficiency and quality.\n\nRequirements:\n\nA Ph.D. or Master’s in Life Science.\n5+ years of experience in academic/scientific publishing, with deep expertise in peer review workflows.\nProven experience managing peer review teams and meeting publishing deadlines.\nStrong understanding of peer review models (single-blind, double-blind, open) and open access publishing.\nHands-on experience with manuscript management systems (Editorial Manager preferred).\nExcellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.\nStrong communication skills with the ability to synthesize complex scientific feedback.\nSelf-driven, detail-oriented, and able to thrive in a fast-paced, global environment.\n\nWhy Join JoVE?\n\nA competitive compensation package.\nYou will make a direct impact in accelerating science research and in improving student learning in science education.\nOpportunity to work with global teams and in an environment that promotes innovation and collaboration.\nOur strong promotion from within culture draws a clear path to advance your career with us.
