About The Job:
  • We are seeking an experienced Product Development Engineer – Cockpits with strong expertise in automotive interior systems, product development, and project management.
  • The role is responsible for leading end-to-end development and industrialization of cockpits, ensuring alignment with customer requirements, organizational standards, and global program timelines for quality, cost, and delivery.
Essential Job Functions:
  • Lead end-to-end development of Cockpits, acting as the primary engineering interface with customers in collaboration with global teams
  • Define and develop product designs and manufacturing processes aligned with customer specifications and Group standards
  • Coordinate and execute validation testing (DVP&R) to ensure structural integrity and safety standards are met, including Airbag deployment study, vibration and environmental testing
  • Ensure technical feasibility, design convergence, and validation through close coordination with customers, suppliers, and cross-functional engineering teams
  • System integration, such as HVAC ducts, steering columns, and electronics (instrument clusters, displays) into the Cockpits.
  • Manage and maintain program documentation within Product Data Management (PDM) systems
  • Execute development activities in line with organizational protocols and Program Management System (PMS) guidelines
  • Lead supplier development activities, including tooling development, process validation, and industrialization readiness
  • Coordinate effectively with suppliers and plant teams during product development and launch phases
  • Ensure supplier quality assurance for prototypes, tooling, and production processes
  • Drive and support APQP activities, including PFMEA, DFMEA, DFM/DFA, and tolerance stack-up analysis
  • Lead costing and value engineering initiatives, including techno-commercial discussions and supplier negotiations
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives focused on product quality, cost optimization, and manufacturabilit
Qualifications:
Technical Skills & Expertise:
  • Strong hands-on experience in Covering technologies, including:
    • IMGL (In-Mold Grain Lamination)
    • Slush molding
    • Cut & Sew
    • Lamination processes
  • Experience with decorative technologies such as IMD/IMF
  • Proven capability to independently lead DFMEA activities with cross-functional teams and customers
  • Knowledge of product packaging concepts (finished and semi-finished goods)
  • Experience with Benchmarking / VA-VE
  • Knowledge of sustainability materials or lightweighting (increasingly valued)
  • Exposure to:
    • Injection tooling and 2K molding
    • Plastic welding technologies (vibration, ultrasonic, hot plate, etc.)
    • Assembly processes and production lines
Education:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Automotive, Industrial, or related discipline)
Professional Experience:
  • Relevant 8–12 years of experience in automotive interiors, specifically Cockpit development (Minimum 3 + Complete Cockpits Programs Experience )
  • Proven experience managing programs from RFQ to SOP (Start of Production)
  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional engineering teams and manage global interfaces
  • Strong background across the complete product development lifecycle, from concept to launch
  • Experience in automotive OEM/Tier-1 environments preferred

  • GD&T and tolerance analysis
  • Root cause analysis and structured problem-solving methodologies
  • Change management and customer-specific engineering systems
  • Engineering documentation and configuration management
  • Familiarity with engineering data systems and analytical tools

  • Proficiency in German language (Level B1 and above)

  • CAD Tools: Vis -View, CATIA, UG
  • MS Office: Excel, PowerPoint
  • Teamcenter PLM software
