Role Summary
We’re looking for a hands-on Data Governance Analyst who has strong experience in Axon tool, can translate governance policy into operational reality using Axon. You’ll own the design and maintenance of business glossaries, functional lineage and data quality, working closely with data stewards, IT, and business teams to make data trustworthy and findable.
This role is for someone who’s been in the trenches of data quality and lineage for 8–11 years and can drive adoption without creating bureaucracy.
Key Responsibilities
1. Axon Governance Platform
• Configure and maintain business glossaries, policies, DQ, and data objects in Axon
• Build workflow automations for policy approval, stewardship assignment, and exception handling
• Train business and IT users on Axon capabilities and drive adoption across domains
2. Data Lineage & Impact Analysis
• Capture end-to-end technical and business lineage from source systems to business outputs
• Partner with IT engineering to ingest metadata via APIs, scanners, and manual curation
• Run impact analysis for system changes, regulatory requirements, and data migrations
3. Data Quality Management
• Define and implement data quality rules, metrics, and dashboards aligned to business KPIs
• Coordinate with data stewards to triage, root-cause, and remediate data quality issues
• Monitor DQ trends and report on improvement initiatives to data governance council
4. Policy & Stewardship Enablement
• Translate regulatory and internal policies into actionable data rules and workflows in Axon
• Support RACI definition for data domains and onboard stewards
• Maintain metadata standards, naming conventions, and data classification taxonomies
Required Skills & Experience
• Max 8–10 years in data governance, data management, or data quality roles
• Expert-level hands-on experience with Axon – workflow design, modeling, user management, reporting
• Strong practical experience in data lineage using Axon, Informatica, or similar tools
• Proven track record in data quality – rule definition, profiling, monitoring, and remediation
• Solid understanding of data modeling, SQL, and metadata management concepts
• Experience working with stakeholders across business and IT to resolve ambiguous data ownership
• Familiarity with data privacy regulations like GDPR, CCPA, and data classification frameworks
Preferred Qualifications
• Axon certification or equivalent platform certification
• Experience with metadata ingestion from Snowflake, Databricks, Informatica, dbt, Tableau
• Exposure to data catalog and governance platforms and integration between Axon and other tools
• Background in financial services, healthcare, or regulated industries is a plus
• Strong documentation and stakeholder communication skills

• Axon is the single source of truth for business definitions and data flows for 2+ critical domains
• Data quality issues for priority datasets are reduced by 30%+ with clear ownership
• Business users can self-serve lineage and impact analysis without IT mediation
• Data governance council has clear metrics on adoption, policy compliance, and DQ trends
Soft Skills
Analytical, pragmatic, and able to explain technical lineage to non-technical audiences. Comfortable pushing back on scope creep while keeping stakeholders engaged.
