Job Description\n\nNeuroscience & EEG Subject Matter Expert (SME)\n\nOrganization: Basil Health\nRole Type: Full-time\nLocation: Primarily in Delhi, but flexible with travel to partner hospitals and wellness centers\n\nRole Overview\nBasil Health is developing a portable EEG-based neurotechnology platform designed to enable scalable monitoring and assessment of brain states related to stress, anxiety, and relaxation.\n\nWe are seeking a Neuroscience & EEG Subject Matter Expert (SME) who will help bridge neuroscience, signal processing, and artificial intelligence with real-world clinical and wellness deployments.\n\nThe SME will work closely with the product, AI, and demonstration teams to explain the scientific foundations of Basil Health’s EEG platform, provide technical justification for projects , and engage with clinicians and institutional partners during demonstrations and pilot programs.\n\nPortable EEG systems have increasingly been used to detect neural signatures associated with cognitive impairment and emotional regulation, with machine-learning models enabling automated identification of neurophysiological biomarkers relevant for mental health and neurodegenerative conditions.\n\nKey Responsibilities\n\nScientific Validation and Technical Advocacy\nProvide expert interpretation of EEG signals and neurophysiological biomarkers generated by Basil Health’s portable EEG system.\nExplain the scientific basis of EEG-derived metrics related to stress, relaxation, and cognitive decline .\nSupport clinical discussions with neurologists, psychiatrists, psychologists, and wellness practitioners.\n\nDeployment and Demonstration Support\nAccompany the demo/testing team to hospitals, diagnostic centers, and wellness facilities .\nProvide technical justification for the device and its analytics pipeline during demonstrations and pilot deployments.\nAddress scientific and methodological questions from institutional stakeholders.\n\nAI and Signal Processing Integration\nCollaborate with the AI/ML team to evaluate algorithms used for EEG feature extraction and classification .\nContribute to development of biomarkers for stress regulation, cognitive impairment, and brain-state monitoring .\nAssist in validating signal-processing pipelines including filtering, artifact removal, spectral analysis, and connectivity measures .\n\nClinical and Research Collaboration\nHelp design pilot studies and validation protocols with partner hospitals and research institutions.\nInterpret results from EEG-based cognitive and emotional assessments .\nContribute to technical reports, white papers, and scientific publications .\n\nRequired Qualifications\nEducation\nPhD in Neuroscience, Cognitive Neuroscience, Biomedical Engineering, Neuroengineering, or a closely related field.\n\nExpertise\nStrong background in EEG acquisition, preprocessing, and analysis .\nKnowledge of neural correlates of stress, anxiety, attention, and cognitive decline .\nExperience with machine learning approaches applied to EEG signals .\n\nTechnical Skills\nFamiliarity with EEG analysis tools such as:\nPython (MNE, NeuroKit)\nMATLAB / EEGLAB\nSignal processing frameworks\nUnderstanding of:\nSpectral analysis (alpha, theta, beta rhythms)\nFunctional connectivity measures\nArtifact removal methods (ICA, filtering)\n\nPreferred Qualifications\nExperience working with portable or wearable EEG devices .\nFamiliarity with digital mental health technologies or neurofeedback systems .\nExperience interacting with clinical partners and hospital administrators .\nBeing a meditator oneself is a positive bonus.\n\nKey Outcomes Expected\nThe SME will help ensure that Basil Health’s neurotechnology:\n\nIs scientifically credible and clinically interpretable .\nIs effectively communicated to healthcare institutions and wellness partners .\nIs validated through rigorous neuroscience and signal-processing methodologies .
