Job Summary\nThe Nursing Superintendent will be responsible for establishing, leading, and managing all nursing services for a newly commissioned 250-bedded multispecialty hospital. The role involves nursing manpower planning, recruitment, training, quality management, NABH compliance, patient care excellence, policy implementation, and overall operational efficiency of the nursing department.\nKey Responsibilities\nHospital & Nursing Setup\nLead the complete nursing setup for a new 250-bedded multispecialty hospital.\nDevelop nursing department structure, staffing models, and operational workflows.\nEstablish nursing policies, protocols, SOPs, and patient care standards.\nCoordinate with hospital administration during commissioning and operationalization phases.\nEnsure readiness of wards, ICUs, OTs, Emergency, Cath Lab, and specialty units.\nManpower Planning & Recruitment\nDevelop department-wise nursing manpower plans based on bed strength and specialty requirements.\nDrive recruitment, onboarding, deployment, and retention of nursing staff.\nEnsure optimum nurse-patient ratios as per regulatory and accreditation standards.\nConduct workforce forecasting and succession planning.\nQuality & Accreditation\nLead NABH and other quality accreditation initiatives.\nMonitor nursing quality indicators and patient safety metrics.\nEnsure compliance with infection control practices, medication safety, and clinical protocols.\nConduct regular audits and implement corrective actions.\nDrive continuous quality improvement initiatives across nursing services.\nClinical Operations\nSupervise day-to-day nursing operations across all departments.\nEnsure delivery of safe, ethical, and evidence-based patient care.\nMonitor patient satisfaction and address service-related concerns.\nCollaborate with consultants, clinical departments, and support services to improve patient outcomes.\nTraining & Development\nDevelop and implement nursing orientation and competency programs.\nConduct regular training sessions on clinical skills, patient safety, and quality standards.\nIdentify learning needs and create professional development plans for nursing staff.\nMentor Nursing Supervisors, Ward In-Charges, and nursing teams.\nBudget & Resource Management\nPrepare and manage departmental budgets.\nMonitor utilization of nursing resources and consumables.\nEnsure cost-effective deployment of manpower and equipment.\nCompliance & Administration\nEnsure compliance with Nursing Council norms and statutory requirements.\nMaintain nursing documentation and records as per hospital policies.\nParticipate in hospital committees including Quality, Infection Control, Patient Safety, and Ethics Committees.\nDesired Skills & Competencies\nStrong leadership and hospital setup experience.\nExpertise in nursing administration and manpower planning.\nThorough knowledge of NABH standards and quality management systems.\nExcellent team management and communication skills.\nStrong decision-making and problem-solving abilities.\nAbility to drive change management and process improvement initiatives.\nQualification\nB.Sc Nursing (Mandatory)\nM.Sc Nursing / Nursing Administration (Preferred)\nValid Nursing Council Registration\nExperience\n12–18+ years of nursing experience in reputed multispecialty hospitals.\nMinimum 5 years of experience as Nursing Superintendent / Deputy Nursing Superintendent.\nPrior experience in commissioning or setting up a new hospital will be highly preferred.\nExposure to NABH-accredited hospitals is mandatory.\nKey Performance Indicators (KPIs)\nSuccessful commissioning of nursing services.\nNursing manpower availability and retention.\nNABH compliance and audit scores.\nPatient satisfaction scores.\nInfection control and patient safety indicators.\nNursing training and competency compliance.\nBudget adherence and operational efficiency.
