We’re seeking someone to join our FRPPE Tech team as a Java Development Lead to work on Java Application Development and Designing with good exposure on Java, Springboot and microservices frontend will be added advantage.\n\nFINANCE Technology (FINTECH) provides innovative solutions for regulatory and financial reporting, general ledger, profit & loss calculations, securities bookkeeping, budgeting & forecasting, and tax filing. The group leverages a state‑of‑the‑art multi‑terabyte financial data warehouse as one of its main assets to service the Firm’s Finance division.\n\nIn the Technology division, we leverage innovation to build the connections and capabilities that power our Firm, enabling our clients and colleagues to redefine markets and shape the future of our communities. This is a Lead Software Engineer position at Vice President Level, which is part of the job family responsible for developing and maintaining software solutions that support business needs.\n\nWhat you’ll do in the role:\n\n- Lead the design, development, and delivery of scalable, enterprise‑grade reporting and analytics solutions.\n- Architect and implement robust software systems using Java, Angular, and other modern technologies, ensuring best practices in SDLC, code quality, and performance.\n- Collaborate with business stakeholders, product owners, and cross‑functional teams to define requirements, evaluate tools, and deliver innovative solutions aligned with business goals.\n- Drive the adoption of GenAI, Copilot, and AI‑driven development practices to enhance automation, reporting, and developer productivity.\n- Mentor and lead a high‑performing team of engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence, continuous learning, and innovation.\n- Manage stakeholder relationships, communicate project status, and proactively address risks and challenges.\n- Promote agile methodologies, automated testing, and CI/CD pipelines for efficient and reliable software delivery.\n- Stay current with emerging technologies and industry trends, and champion their adoption where relevant.\n\nWhat you’ll bring to the role:\n\n- 10+ years of experience in software engineering, with a strong background in full stack development (Java, Angular, and related technologies).\n- Deep understanding of data structures, algorithms, design patterns, and modern SDLC practices.\n- Proven experience building and scaling enterprise‑level applications, preferably in cloud environments.\n- Proficiency in additional languages and frameworks (Python, SQL, databases, etc.) and ability to quickly learn new tech stacks as needed.\n- Demonstrated experience leveraging GenAI, Copilot, or AI/ML tools for software development, automation, or reporting.\n- Strong problem‑solving, analytical, and communication skills.\n- Experience leading and motivating high‑performing teams and managing stakeholder relationships in a global environment.\n- Business acumen and prior exposure to finance, investment banking, or related domains is an advantage.\n\nAdditional Skills (Good to Have):\n\n- Familiarity with Power BI, Apache Airflow, OLAP tools, and workflow automation.\n- Experience with tool evaluation, POC delivery, and greenfield project leadership.\n- Passion for innovation, continuous learning, and delivering business impact through technology.\n\nMorgan Stanley is an equal opportunity employer committed to building and maintaining a workforce that is diverse in experience and background.
