Role Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Kubernetes Administrator to manage and optimize our private Kubernetes clusters. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in cluster installation, Day-2 operations, and hands-on experience with Istio service mesh and NGINX Ingress Controller. Exposure to Nutanix Kubernetes Platform (NKP) is a strong plus.

Key Responsibilities:

Cluster Installation & Configuration
- Deploy and configure private Kubernetes clusters using kubeadm or vendor tools.
- Set up HA control plane, networking (CNI), and storage (CSI).

Day-2 Operations
- Perform upgrades, patching, scaling, and node lifecycle management.
- Implement backup/restore strategies for etcd and workloads.
- Monitor cluster health and troubleshoot performance issues.

Networking & Service Mesh
- Configure and manage NGINX Ingress Controller for routing, TLS termination, and advanced traffic policies.
- Deploy and operate Istio service mesh for traffic management, mTLS, and observability.

Security & Compliance
- Implement RBAC, PodSecurity standards, NetworkPolicies, and admission controllers.
- Ensure compliance with CIS benchmarks and security best practices.

Observability & Automation
- Set up monitoring and alerting using Prometheus, Grafana, and logging stacks.
- Automate cluster operations using GitOps (Argo CD/Flux) and IaC tools (Terraform/Ansible).
- 3-6 years of experience in Linux systems and Kubernetes administration.
- Strong knowledge of private Kubernetes clusters (kubeadm or vendor-managed).
- Hands-on experience with Istio and NGINX Ingress in production environments.
- Familiarity with CNI (Calico/Cilium) and CSI drivers.
- Experience with Prometheus/Grafana, Helm, and GitOps workflows.
- Good scripting skills (Bash/Python).
- Experience with Nutanix Kubernetes Platform (NKP).
- Knowledge of advanced networking (eBPF, Cilium) and service mesh alternatives.
- Kubernetes certifications (CKA, CKAD) and Nutanix certifications.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with DevOps and application teams.
- Good documentation and communication skills.
