Job Description
Preferred Experience
5–7 years of experience in payload systems / UAV integration
Strong understanding of system interfaces (mechanical/electrical)
Experience with environmental stress screening (ESS) and survivability testing
Familiarity with aerospace safety procedures and compliance frameworks
Exposure to UAV mission payloads and operational testing
Compliance Awareness: Familiarity with aerospace standards (AS9100D, MIL-STD, DO-160)
Reliability Engineering: Experience in survivability assessments and redundancy strategies
Innovation: Exposure to emerging payload technologies (smart fuses, modular payload bays)
Leadership: Ability to mentor junior engineers and lead supplier/vendor discussions
Required Skill Sets & Tools
- CAD Tools: SolidWorks, Siemens NX (mechanical/electrical interface layouts)
- Analysis Tools: MATLAB (data analysis and modelling)
- Documentation: ICDs, SOPs, and compliance reports
Qualifications
Bachelor’s / Master’s in Aerospace / Mechanical / Electronics Engineering
Key Responsibility Areas
- Payload Procurement & Evaluation
- Oversee procurement and evaluation of COTS payload systems
- Compile and compare vendor specifications and datasheets
- System Interfaces
- Develop and review Interface Control Documents (ICDs) for mechanical and electrical integration
- Ensure compatibility with UAV subsystems
- Environmental & Survivability Testing
- Review payload compatibility with shock, vibration (ESS), and environmental constraints
- Plan and execute ground and integration testing campaigns
- Safety & Reliability
- Define safe handling and operational SOPs
- Perform FMECA (Failure Modes, Effects, and Criticality Analysis) for deployment and activation sequences
- Test & Range Operations
- Coordinate test range operations (non-hazardous systems)
- Validate payload performance under mission conditions
