Job Requirements

Position summary

The Packaging Planner will be responsible for managing, designing, and optimizing packaging solutions for Assembly, Body-in-White (BIW), and Powertrain parts. This role involves working closely with cross-functional teams including Module Planning, RD, and suppliers to ensure that parts are packaged efficiently, cost-effectively, and safely for transportation and storage. The Packaging Planner will contribute to the overall production and supply chain efficiency by implementing standardized packaging processes, improving packaging designs, and ensuring compliance with relevant standards and regulations.

Key Responsibilities

Packaging Design and Development:

  • Develop packaging concepts and solutions for parts in Assembly, BIW, Powertrain, Battery, Axles and Transmission ensuring the protection of parts during transportation and storage.
  • Collaborate with RD, suppliers, and production teams to design packaging that maximizes space utilization and minimizes cost.
  • Ensure all packaging meets safety standards, product integrity requirements, and environmental sustainability goals.
  • Develop new concepts, innovative designs, design modification and optimization without affecting part quality.
  • Perform material selection for packaging and racks, considering durability, weight, cost, and sustainability.
  • Prepare and maintain comprehensive documentation for packaging designs, including detailed specifications, testing reports, and cost analyses.

Finite Element Analysis (FEA):

  • Conduct FEA simulations to assess the performance and integrity of packaging solutions, including racks and containers, under various load conditions (e.g., stacking, vibration, impact).
  • Analyze simulation results to identify potential issues such as structural weaknesses, deformation, or material failure and iterate on designs to address these concerns.
  • Use FEA tools to simulate the packaging design lifecycle, ensuring robustness and compliance with industry standards.
