Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Broadcom Datacom/DB Database Administrator with deep hands-on expertise in CA Datacom/DB Version 15.x running in a z/OS mainframe environment . This is a critical role supporting a high-availability production system currently operating on Release 15.1 , with recommended service levels 2409 (Production) and 2503 (Test) , supporting z/OS 3.1 .

Key Responsibilities

• Perform day-to-day administration, monitoring, performance tuning, and troubleshooting of CA Datacom/DB Multi-User Facility (MUF) and databases in a 24×7 production environment .
• Apply and validate Broadcom-recommended service (maintenance) through SMP/E , including planning and executing quarterly recommended service upgrades.
• Manage Datacom/DB database structures, including:
• Areas
• Tables
• Indexes
• SQL Access
• Multi-Dataset Tables (MDTs)
• Partitioning
• Compression
• Perform database recovery activities using:
• Datacom Forward Recovery
• Dynamic Backward Recovery (DBR)
• Spill and Archive Management
• Support Datacom/DB SQL access, including:
• Plan Management
• Dynamic Plan Selection
• Query Optimization
• Support for native Datacom applications and SQL-based reporting tools
• Collaborate closely with application development teams on:
• Database Design
• DDL Changes
• Impact Analysis
• Maintain Datacom/DB security using internal security features and/or integration with:
• RACF
• Top Secret
• ACF2
• Manage Datacom/DB logging components, including:
• LXX
• RXX
• PXX
• Checkpoint Processing
• MUF Startup and Shutdown Procedures
• Participate in disaster recovery planning, execution, and testing for Datacom environments.
• Automate repetitive administrative tasks using:
• REXX
• Datacom Utilities (DBUTLTY)
• Other automation tools
• Provide rotational on-call support for production incidents and critical system issues.

Required Skills

• Strong hands-on experience with Broadcom CA Datacom/DB Version 15.x .
• Expertise in z/OS Mainframe Administration .
• Experience with MUF Administration, Performance Tuning, and Troubleshooting .
• Proficiency in SMP/E Maintenance and Upgrade Management .
• Strong knowledge of Datacom Recovery Processes , SQL Access, and Database Utilities.
• Experience with RACF, Top Secret, or ACF2 Security Integration .
• Scripting and automation experience using REXX and DBUTLTY .
• Familiarity with Disaster Recovery Planning and Testing in mainframe environments.
• Ability to support mission-critical systems in a 24×7 production environment .
