Job Purpose: The role is responsible for providing strategic direction and governance to ensure efficient and reliable maintenance of Balance of Plant and Coal Handling Plant systems. This role involves overseeing process improvements, budget management, and adherence to safety and environmental standards, while fostering team engagement and driving innovation through Digitalisation and automation to achieve operational excellence and business sustainability.
Educational Qualification:
BE/B.tech in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
Work Experience (Range of years):
19+ years of experience in electrical maintenance within power plants or heavy industries.
Preferred Industry:
Experience in the power generation industry, specifically with BoP/CHP operations.
Section Head Electrical BoP/CHP
Strategic Direction and Governance:
Provide strategic direction and guidance for the electrical maintenance of BoP/CHP.
Ensure strategic and tactical plans in conjunction with peers for the BoP,CHP, and associated areas.
Review and ensure implementation of process/system improvements for BoP/CHP, including RO Plant, Sea Intake, FGD, Hydrogen plant, DM plant, Conveyor belts, Crusher house, Stacker Reclaimers, etc.
Ensure proactive planning and execution of systems to prevent future problems, through SOPs, JSAs, and SMPs.
Ensure implementation of improvement projects for BoP,CHP, and associated areas.
Oversee proper planning, scheduling and execution of shutdowns, annual overhauling, and maintenance projects.
Participate in cross-site knowledge sharing - conclaves and seminars.
Equipment Maintenance and Operational Excellence:
Provide technical direction to the team for efficient and reliable maintenance of equipment in BoP/CHP area.
Monitor and ensure the timely closure of notifications on SAP.
Oversee system improvement through innovative ideas and best practices.
Participate in cross-site and technical audits to maintain high standards of operational excellence.
Ensure availability of all BoP/CHP equipment such as Service Transformers, HT and LT Switchgear, HT and LT motors, DC Systems, DG Sets, Lifts in Chimney and Chimney lightings, Stacker Reclaimer Electrical Auxiliaries, Wagon Tripler, etc.
Ensure communication of change/improvements in company policies within the department.
Ensure timely completion of PM, CM, and condition monitoring.
Monitor testing parameters to ensure they are within permissible limits and suggest corrective actions.
Budget and Inventory Management:
Review and finalize the annual budget for BoP/CHP maintenance and improvement projects.
Manage spares inventory and develop vital indigenous spares for BoP/CHP-related equipment and systems.
Monitor business associates and ensure bill certifications for cost-effectiveness.
Approve purchase requests (PRs) raised by Leads based on the delegation of authority.
Oversee the financial aspects of annual overhauling planning and execution.
Identify cost-saving opportunities and implement measures to reduce operational expenses.
Business Sustainability:
Ensure adherence to IMS, AWMS, DISHA and CHETNA guidelines within the department.
Maintain safety of personnel and equipment through proper training and adherence to safety protocols.
Mitigate hazardous processes and ensure participation in mock drills.
Ensure compliance with legal and statutory requirements, including electrical license renewal and certifications for elevators.
Perform RCA, MoC, FMEA, ZFO, and ensure timely technical audits including ISO, IWMS, 5S, etc. to maintain high operational standards.
Digitalisation and Automation:
Lead and execute comprehensive Digitalisation strategies and newer technologies to optimize operational efficiency.
Innovate and implement automation solutions to support overall organizational goals/strategy.
Identify system upgradation opportunities and oversee system improvements through innovative ideas and best practices.
People and Team Engagement:
Participate/Assist in the recruitment process to attract and retain skilled personnel.
Drive and enhance employee engagement across the team to sustain a positive workplace culture.
Lead, inspire, and mentor the team to foster a high-performance culture and ensure cross-skilling through job rotation, technical, and behavioural training.
Ensure proper succession planning in the team.
Foster a conducive environment for high employee retention by ensuring team satisfaction and professional development.
