weaving machine operator sets up, operates, and monitors industrial looms to produce fabric, textiles, or labels. They are responsible for loading yarn, ensuring precise tension and pattern accuracy, fixing thread breakages, and performing routine equipment maintenance to prevent production defects.Key ResponsibilitiesMachine Setup: Configure and thread looms (e.g., air-jet, water-jet, or rapier machines) based on specific blueprints, fabric designs, and yarn types.Operation & Monitoring: Start and continuously monitor machines to ensure correct tension, pattern accuracy, and speed during the weaving process.Quality Control: Inspect woven fabric visually and physically to detect defects, holes, or yarn snags, taking immediate corrective action.Troubleshooting: Identify the causes of loom stoppages (such as thread breakages or harness issues), clear jams, and re-thread materials.Maintenance: Conduct routine equipment cleaning, oil moving parts, and perform minor mechanical repairs.Inventory Management: Replace empty bobbins, beams, and yarn packages as needed, and log production data.Required Skills & QualificationsTechnical Knowledge: Understanding of textile manufacturing, loom mechanics, and machine settings.Physical Stamina: Ability to stand for long shifts, walk between work areas, and lift or handle heavy spools of yarn.Hand-Eye Coordination: Excellent dexterity to swiftly tie broken threads and thread delicate needles or guides.Education: A high school diploma, ITI certification, or specialized vocational training in textile machinery is highly preferred by employers.
