Job Title: Lead – Student Welfare & Well Being

Company: University of Bristol – Mumbai Campus

Reports To: Director Campus Operations & Registrar

Location: Mumbai

Employment Type: Full-time, Permanent

Role Purpose

The Lead – Student Welfare & Well Being will lead the development, implementation, and continuous enhancement of a holistic student support ecosystem that promotes student well-being, inclusion, engagement, and success. The role ensures alignment with the academic ethos of the University of Bristol (UK) while meeting regulatory expectations in India.


Key Responsibilities

1. Student Welfare Strategy & Governance

  • Design and implement a comprehensive Student Welfare Framework aligned with the University of Bristol’s global standards.
  • Implement policies related to:
  • Student well-being and mental health
  • Safeguarding and grievance redressal
  • Anti-ragging and anti-discrimination
  • Inclusivity and accessibility
  • Ensure compliance with UGC , local regulations, and international best practices.
  • Serve as Secretary/Lead for Student Welfare Committees (e.g., Anti-Ragging Committee, ICC, Grievance Redressal Committee).

2. Student Support Services

  • Oversee delivery of key services including:
  • Counselling and mental health support
  • Health services and emergency response
  • Disability support and learning accommodations
  • International student support (visa, cultural integration, transition support)
  • Establish partnerships with external service providers (counsellors, healthcare, NGOs).

3. Student Engagement & Campus Life

  • Drive student engagement initiatives including:
  • Clubs, societies, and student-led activities
  • Cultural, sports, and co-curricular programmes
  • Student leadership and representation frameworks (Student Council)
  • Foster a vibrant, inclusive, and safe campus environment.

4. Safeguarding, Well-being & Crisis Management

  • Lead safeguarding initiatives and ensure student safety and dignity at all times.
  • Develop crisis management protocols for:
  • Mental health emergencies
  • Harassment or misconduct cases
  • Health and safety incidents
  • Act as a key escalation point for sensitive student issues.

5. Student Grievance & Discipline Framework

  • Oversee fair and transparent handling of:
  • Student grievances
  • Disciplinary matters
  • Code of conduct violations
  • Ensure due process, documentation, and timely resolution.

6. Collaboration & Stakeholder Management

  • Work closely with:
  • Academic teams and Programme Directors
  • Registry, Admissions, and Operations
  • UK Home Campus Student Services teams
  • Act as a bridge between students and institutional leadership.

7. Data, Insights & Continuous Improvement

  • Monitor student well-being indicators, engagement metrics, and satisfaction (NSS/NPS).
  • Analyse trends and implement improvement initiatives.
  • Prepare reports for senior leadership and regulatory bodies.

8. Team Leadership & Operations

  • Build and lead the Student Welfare team (counsellors, student support officers, engagement leads).
  • Develop SOPs, service standards, and SLAs.
  • Manage budgets and vendor relationships.

  • Student satisfaction and engagement scores
  • Reduction in grievance resolution timelines
  • Effective implementation of welfare policies and compliance
  • Participation rates in student activities
  • Well-being program utilisation metrics


Qualifications & Experience

  • Master’s degree in Psychology, Social Work, Education, or related field (PhD desirable).
  • 5–8 years of experience in student affairs / student services / campus life.
  • Experience in international or transnational education environments preferred.
  • Strong understanding of UGC regulations , safeguarding norms, and student well-being frameworks.
