Job Summary
The Senior Global Sustainability Manager advances the company’s global sustainability strategy by identifying innovative, scalable, and cost-effective solutions that enhance environmental and social performance. The role ensures sustainability is embedded into core business operations, supporting long-term value creation and responsible business practices.
Reporting to the Chief Sustainability Officer (CSO), this position leads the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of sustainability strategies, programs, and targets. It partners cross-functionally to translate strategy into action through defined roadmaps, budgets, and stakeholder engagement to drive measurable impact.
The role drives sustainability innovation and capability building across carbon management, energy efficiency, human rights, ethics, compliance, and sustainable procurement, while supporting integration of sustainability principles into operational processes and performance management.
It also oversees sustainability data collection, analysis, and governance to improve performance and efficiency, and leads external disclosures (e.g., ESG report, CDP, EcoVadis, SBTi) aligned with global frameworks. As a champion, the role builds organizational awareness and engagement, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement across the enterprise and value chain.
Main Responsibilities
- Deliver detailed sustainability assessments, leveraging data analysis to identify risks and opportunities that strengthen energy efficiency and support enterprise-wide sustainability goals.
- Lead and coordinate global projects such as: GHG accounting and reduction programs (Scope 1, 2, & 3); energy efficiency initiatives, water reduction initiatives, and sustainable procurement and supplier engagement activities, including driving supplier decarbonization and value chain performance improvements.
- Track milestones, budgets, and outcomes to quantify effectiveness and ROI for various programs.
- Act as a key liaison with consultants, external rating agencies, reporting platforms, NGOs, and industry groups to communicate metrics and initiatives.
- Coordinate projects and initiatives related to data collection frameworks, dashboards, and governance processes to support metric tracking, reporting accuracy, audit readiness, and training for site-level employees.
- Identify and prioritize initiatives that deliver environmental impact, circular economy outcomes, and cost efficiency.
- Drive cross-functional implementation with operations, procurement, supply chain, engineering, EHS, and HR.
- Create toolkits, playbooks, roadmaps, and communication tools for consistent global implementation and messaging.
- Develop and deliver training programs to improve sustainability knowledge and site-level performance.
- Facilitate the exchange of best practices, innovation, and success stories across the organization and externally, as appropriate.
- Coordinate organizational announcements and campaigns with the global communications team.
- Lead reporting processes including:
- Annual Sustainability / ESG Report
- Annual Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP) submissions
- Annual EcoVadis assessment submission
- Required reporting on Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) commitment progress
- Support responses to customer, investor, and stakeholder survey requests related to ESG and sustainability.
- Communicate customer and supply chain sustainability requirements internally and support alignment across functions.
- Ensure data accuracy, audit readiness, and alignment with frameworks such as GRI, SASB, TCFD, and emerging standards (e.g., ISSB, CSRD).
- Analyze sustainability performance (GHG emissions, energy, water, waste, and social metrics) to identify trends, risks, and opportunities, while tracking progress toward corporate sustainability targets.
- Develop executive-level reporting materials and dashboards to support decision-making and leadership visibility.
Qualifications
- Broad understand of sustainability with specific emphasis on environmental aspects.
- Knowledge of local and international legislation and initiatives that directly impact Sustainability trends.
- Experience working with climate change and global initiatives for reporting and de-carbonization, such as, Global Reporting Initiative (GRI), Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP), Net-zero commitments and carbon foot-print analysis.
- Proven track record of project management and completion to improve sustainability metrics.
- Experience with multi-national sustainability opportunities and management.
- Ability to develop presentations, tool kits, case studies and other assets to help in project delivery.
- Use data effectively to track progress, identify hotspots and document success.
- Clear written and oral communication to work with clients, managers, and external experts to develop best practices for tackling energy reduction, green energy, water conservation and waste reduction.
- Good communication and analytical skills.
- Interest and commitment in sustainability efforts, innovation, new technology and legislation and keeps up to date
Preferred Qualifications
- Degree in environmental engineering or other engineering related disciplines
- At least 8 years of relevant work experience relating to sustainability efforts and initiatives
- Proven record of sustainability/CSR, climate action and community engagement
- ISO14001, ISO45001, ISO50001 trained.
