Job Description

Role Overview We are hiring an Engineer / Senior Engineer for the Electrification Component Department of a leading Japanese Automotive Tier-1 / OEM. The role owns the design, development, validation, and localization of EV powertrain and high-voltage components for 4-Wheeler Passenger Vehicle (PV) programs.

Product Portfolio: Traction Inverter | Battery Management Unit (BMU / BMS) | PWC ECU | On-Board Charger (OBC) + DC-DC Converter | HV Battery Pack

Employment Type: Full-Time, Permanent — Direct On-Roll

Industry: Automotive — Electric Vehicles (EV) — Passenger Vehicle Segment

Key Responsibilities:

- Support localization of EV electrification components — Inverter, BMU, PWC ECU, OBC, DC-DC Converter, and HV Battery Pack

- Review engineering drawings and conduct GD&T analysis at component and system level

- Plan and execute component- and system-level validation — functional, performance, environmental, bench testing, EMI/EMC, and HILS (Hardware-in-the-Loop Simulation)

- Support prototype, A-sample, and B-sample build phases

- Interface with OEM customers for technical requirements, ECN / ECR change management, and design approvals

- Evaluate and qualify EV components from Tier-2 suppliers; support sourcing decisions with technical inputs and APQP / PPAP discipline

- Perform Root Cause Analysis (RCA) using 8D, 5-Why, and Ishikawa methodologies for field and validation issues

- EV powertrain and HV architecture** understanding

- Thermal management of battery and power-electronic systems

- Material science basics

- HILS testing, bench testing, EMI/EMC validation

- CAN / CAN-bus / LIN communication protocols

- Functional Safety (ISO 26262) awareness

- IATF 16949, APQP, PPAP, PFMEA working knowledge

- NX-Unigraphics / CATIA

- Python for test automation and data analysis

- EDA tools (Altium / Mentor / Cadence)

Management & Soft Skills

- Proven ability to handle 2 or more projects simultaneously

- Comfort managing sudden or unplanned activity changes

- Efficient data and documentation management

- Strong presentation and stakeholder communication

- Effective cross-functional team collaboration

- Disciplined, detail-oriented working style suited to a Japanese engineering environment
