Position: Quality Assurance Engineer

Key Responsibilities

Quality Assurance & Inspection

Conduct in-process, final, and incoming quality inspections as per control plans and customer requirements.

Ensure product compliance with drawings, specifications, GD&T, and quality standards.

Monitor critical dimensions, surface finish, visual parameters, and process capability.

Maintain inspection records and traceability documentation as per IATF requirements.

IATF 16949 System Compliance

Support implementation and adherence to IATF 16949 quality systems.

Maintain documentation related to:

Control Plans

PFMEA

Process Flow

SPC

MSA

Layered Process Audits

PPAP documentation

Participate in internal audits and customer audits.

Customer Quality Management

Handle customer complaints and coordinate corrective actions using:

8D

Why-Why Analysis

Fishbone Analysis

Monitor customer PPM, rejection trends, and warranty concerns.

Coordinate containment actions and closure of customer quality issues within defined timelines.

Data Reporting & Analysis

Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly quality reports.

Analyze inspection data and identify trends for process improvement.

Maintain quality dashboards for:

Rejections

PPM

Rework

Line defects

Customer complaints

Present findings to management and cross-functional teams.

Process Improvement

Drive continuous improvement and defect reduction initiatives.

Support Kaizen, TPM, Lean Manufacturing, and Zero Defect initiatives.

Work closely with production, maintenance, tooling, and development teams to improve process capability and consistency.

Supplier & Shopfloor Coordination

Coordinate with suppliers for incoming quality issues.

Ensure calibration status of gauges and measuring instruments.

Train operators and inspectors on quality standards and inspection methods.

Required Skills

Strong understanding of IATF 16949 systems.

Knowledge of automotive core tools:

APQP

PPAP

SPC

MSA

FMEA

Hands-on experience with measuring instruments:

Vernier

Micrometer

Height Gauge

Bore Gauge

Profile Projector

Surface Roughness Tester

Good analytical and reporting skills.

Proficiency in MS Excel and quality reporting systems.

Strong communication and problem-solving ability.

Qualification

B.Tech / Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Production Engineering, or related field.

Experience

2–6 years experience in automotive manufacturing or precision component industry preferred.

Experience in bearing, stamping, machining, or automotive component manufacturing will be an added advantage.
