Job Title: Powertrain and Propulsion systems (ICE & BEV CAE/CFD Engineer / Senior Engineer)


Experience: 5 – 12 Years

Location: Bangalore / Chennai / Pune

Industry: Automotive / EV / Engineering Services

Job Summary

We are looking for experienced CAE Engineers to support simulation and development of IC engine and electrified powertrain systems. The role includes working on durability, NVH, CFD (3D &1D), thermal, and battery safety to ensure performance, reliability, and safety of next-generation mobility systems.

Key Responsibilities

Durability / Structural

  • Create and maintain high-quality FE models for components and assemblies
  • Conduct static strength and stiffness, Fatigue and durability, Buckling and modal analysis fatigue and durability analysis for engine components, gearbox, mounts, battery enclosures
  • Perform stress, strain, and life predictions using FEA tools
  • Analyze gear durability, pitting, scuffing, and bending fatigue, Support efficiency and loss analysis for gear and transmission systems, Evaluate gearbox housing interaction with internal gear dynamics

NVH (Noise, Vibration & Harshness)/Battery Safety

  • Perform NVH analysis for powertrain and electrified systems
  • Conduct modal, harmonic, acoustic, and forced response analysis
  • Analyze issues related to noise/vibration in engine, gearbox, e-motor, and battery structures
  • Perform battery pack structural and safety simulations & ensure compliance with safety standards and thermal performance targets


CFD & Thermal Analysis

CFD 3D:

  • Heat transfer modeling, Cooling, Lubrication & Fuel systems, Thermal performance optimization, Combustion modeling, Efficiency and emissions optimization.
  • Electro-thermal coupling, Battery electrochemistry modeling, Thermal runaway analysis, Thermal-EM coupling, Correlation with test data, Design recommendations

CFD 1D:

  • Develop 1D models for engine cooling, lubrication, battery thermal management, and power electronics cooling, perform thermal balancing and energy management studies, combustion modeling, improve fuel efficiency and reduce emissions, analyze exhaust emissions and conversion efficiency, Optimize system for real driving conditions, Model evaporative emission systems, Develop battery models (SOC, SOH), Perform electrochemical modeling, Optimize energy management & thermal runaway scenarios, Integrate multi-domain models, Perform model validation with test data


Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s / Master’s in Mechanical / Automotive
  • Bachelor‘s or master‘s degree in mechanical engineering
  • 5 –12 years of experience in automotive simulation and analysis (structural, modal analysis, vibration analysis, Fatigue analysis, CFD (1D & 3D)
  • Should be able to build finite element assemblies, apply loads and boundary conditions, estimate fatigue life for components, have good fundaments of strength of materials and FEM
  • Self-motivated and eager to take initiative


Tools Expertise (Any of the following)

  • FEA: Abaqus, Nastran, Lsdyna
  • Pre/Post: HyperMesh, ANSA
  • CFD: Star-CCM+, ANSYS Fluent
  • 1D Tools: GT-SUITE, AMESim
  • Scripting: Python / MATLAB (Preferred)



Key responsibilities:

  • Work on thermal analysis, stress analysis, finite element analysis, computational fluid dynamics and other relevant simulations to ensure product reliability and efficiency
  • Apply loads and boundary conditions to perform static and dynamic analysis and evaluate stress, strains and failure models under different conditions
  • Analyze simulation results to check design improvements and optimize the components.
  • Verify correctness of simulation performed and analysis
  • Conduct durability and fatigue analysis to predict component lifecycle and reliability.
  • Collaborate with design and test teams to correlate simulation results with physical testing data
