Job Title: Firewall Automation Engineer

Duration: Minimum 1-year engagement + Possible extension.

Location: Chennai, Bangalore, Coimbatore, Hyderabad (Work from Office). Other locations: Hybrid model with a minimum of 3 days per week from the nearest office.

Overview

We are seeking a hands-on Firewall Automation Engineer to support a banking customer’s security transformation program. The role will focus on firewall operations, automation development, scripting, and supporting the organization's gradual transition toward open-source firewall technologies.

Key Responsibilities

• Administer, configure, and troubleshoot enterprise firewall platforms.
• Develop automation solutions to streamline firewall operations, policy management, and security workflows.
• Build scripts and tools to improve operational efficiency and reduce manual effort.
• Support integration of firewall platforms with monitoring, ticketing, and security systems.
• Participate in migration and evaluation activities related to open-source firewall technologies.
• Collaborate with architects and engineering teams on automation and development initiatives.
• Maintain documentation, standards, and operational procedures.

Required Skills & Experience

• Strong hands-on experience with Fortinet, Palo Alto, and/or Cisco firewall technologies.
• Experience with scripting and automation using Python, PowerShell, Bash, Ansible, or similar tools.
• Understanding of network security concepts, firewall policies, VPNs, NAT, and routing.
• Exposure to open-source firewall technologies is highly desirable.
• Knowledge of DevOps, Infrastructure as Code, or API-based automation is an advantage.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
